on water dragons + yet another weekend meet-up

This is my entry to the Week 23 of Techie She Weekly Giveaways. This week’s lucky blogger will win $10 Paypal credits from Borris of Snapshots as They Happen.

weekends, meet ups, friends, chinese new year,

Last Saturday mum + the little man did an errand in Manila, I picked up the pillows I ordered from one of those Groupon sites, in Quezon City. Luckily my brother agreed to accompany us + later on agreed to bring home the pillows, when a local courier refused to ship them unless I put them in boxes! I cannot imagine carrying the little man + the huge bulk of pillows at the same time! 🙁

After our errands, we head off to Trinoma to pass the time as we wait for 4pm. We will be meeting up with my friend, + Jared’s ninang, Jack, at The Block that afternoon.  It has been awhile since we last saw each other, so I was glad she agreed that we meet. She was not able to come to our previous meet ups + the little man has not seen her since his baptism.

We first head off to the food court for a late lunch. I have been craving for World Chicken for sometime now so I made a beeline to their counter + ordered chicken/pasta/mash potato combo! Talk of carbo overload! Fortunately, the little man also liked the combination I ordered + sampled all the treats. In the end, he decided to stick with chicken. Probably loving its taste + the taragon sauce that goes with it.

eq diapers birthday party promo 2012

promos, EQ Diapers, parenting 101, motherhood

That I am such a pack rat works well to my advantage sometimes. Well, I must admit I’ve got a few nice items for the little man from EQ Diapers {I got this cute green frog table + an alphabet wooden book, plus they also send a nice card on Jared’s birthday!} that I have never thrown a diaper pack since then. I have about more than a dozen diaper wrappers stashed in one of my eco-bags. So, you can only guess how delighted I was to find out that their yearly Birthday Party Promo is back + this time 300 lucky mums will win a McDonald’s Birthday Party for their kiddos!

This year might just well be the last year Jared will be using diapers, I can see signs of a looming potty training coming very soon + what a good way to end it by winning in this EQ promo, right? I will be mailing my entries soon so I am keeping my fingers {+ toes, too!} crossed! 😀

exactly 2 years ago now

parenting, memories, jared's nook

Exactly two years ago today we welcomed Jared to the Christian World. It was a simple occasion joined in by some of our closest friends + family members. A ceremony was held at the Barasoain Church {we live about 20 minutes away from this historic church} followed by a simple lunch reception held at the Club Royale Resort in our city. Jared’s dad + I chose the place as the price they offered was more reasonable compared to the other places we’ve checked out, plus it was also a few minutes away from the church + the place is easy to find.

Jared was almost-four months when this happened + I was more than proud of the little man as he is only one of the too few babies who did not cry as the priest poured holy water on their heads. Way to go baby! He was also particularly well-behaved the entire time, smiling occasionally at familiar faces who came to bear witness to this momentous occasion, the first of the many, I am sure. I am not a devout Catholic, I must admit, but I would love for Jared to grow up knowing + looking up to The Almighty for guidance + inspiration, hence the baptismal. I am sure if my parents were around they would agree + would probably be the busiest person organizing this event + inviting as many of their friends + colleagues as they can.

Hosting + organizing an event is no easy task, especially for someone who has to juggle a full-time job + a budding 24/7 mummy career on top of that. I was checking out the restos + resorts around our city at work, in between taking calls + dealing with difficult callers. I also visited the chosen place a few times before heading to Makati where I work. Not to mention going to Divisoria to scout + buy souvenir items {I have my friend Jannai to thank for accompanying me there! :)}, too! It was a good thing my brother, Ken, took charge of designing + making the invites + the labels for the souvenirs. Needless to say, it was one of the most chaotic time of our lives. But something I’d gladly do over again for the little man 😀

Sharing this dash of nostalgia with Memory Lane 🙂
