On 03 January, I got a message on Facebook telling me that I won in the Carefree Panda Holiday Giveaway! {click on the badge below to check the giveaway post} I got P1,500 worth of shopping codes to spend on Carefree Shopper online shop. I was so excited to spend my prize so I hurriedly went to the site to check out their items. They carry numerous  make-ups + perfumes, mostly imported brands, but what really caught my attention are the flip flops + the undergarments ^_^

I have always loved underwear + back in the days, I used to spend a great portion of my salary for undergarments. So when I saw this pink Victoria Secret bikini, I just knew that I had to get it. I also got these lovely items, as well:

  • 2 pairs of Old Navy Metallic Silver Flip flops {at P375 each} for me + my sister
  • A black polka dot Victoria Secret bikini
I just had to mention that Armie from Carefree Shopper is easily one of the nicest online shop owners I’ve talked to. Although I had to wait for a few days for a reply on my queries, she shipped my items immediately after we finalized the transaction + I got the package the next day, a fast + seamless transaction 🙂 My heartfelt thanks goes out to Ina, of course, for this post-Christmas loot. It was a great experience shopping without spending my own money, I could get used to this.  ^_^

mum musings

a trip to the bookstore

Books are this mum’s absolute hearts! No trip to the mall is ever complete without stopping by one. Plus, it is an activity both me + the little man enjoys immensely! I get this certain feel of contentment + peace whenever I am surrounded by all those wonderful books, even if I won’t get to buy them in the end. Browsing through them + savoring the familiar scent of printed pages wafting through my nose is just sheer bliss!

It has been a few weeks since I’ve been to the bookstore + I cannot wait to visit one very soon. Tomorrow, I hope, if all our plans fall into place. I’ll be doing an errand in the afternoon with the little man + my bro, then we’ll be hitting the mall afterwards to meet up with my friend, Jack, who is also Jared’s godmother. I will grab the chance to make a beeline to the nearest bookstore in between that. I’d like to check out some more postcards for my postcrossing hobby, + who knows what other treasure I’d find there tomorrow. I’d probably get some envelopes + stickers, too.

The bookstore is brimming with wonderful items, that I can’t just help but hoard whenever I visit. Gone are those days when all you see are racks upon racks of boring + impersonal school supplies. Now you’d find wonderfully-made planners + notebooks. You will also stumble upon specialty papers + uber-kawaii items for arts + crafts. + loads of beautiful albums for scrapbooking, too. You’d also probably discover a lovely lanyard or two, or hard-to-find collectible cd’s or software for ID cards, maybe. + if you are lucky, a sale or two!

Oh well, I really look forward to my bookstore trips, it is one of my simple pleasures. Plus, Jared also has the time of his life browsing through racks + choosing books + stuff to look at! 🙂  Sadly, I do not have photographs of our trips there. But I plan to take photos next time + I will be sure to post them here when I do 🙂

this mum is out of order

That’s right! + if I could put up the sign around my neck, I would!

This mum has been sick on + off for more than a week now, waking up in the wee hours of the night to a slight fever, a little shiver + a burning sensation in my throat that makes swallowing a pain! + it was the most trying days of my mummy-life! Not only was I struggling to feel better, but I also have the little man to look after 24/7, not to mention a number of house chores that won’t simply be driven off by an out of order sign. Imagine taking care of your sick self while trying to keep up with a rambunctious toddler who is constantly beaming with too much energy. I was dosing at one end of the sofa while looking after him play with his matchbox on the other end, late Saturday night {we were just waiting for my sister to arrive as she had to do a quick errand} that I failed to notice he’s deserted his beloved toys in favor of the more appealing screen door {which he can now open successfully}. Glad I awoke in the nick of time. I do not have the strength to imagine what would’ve happened if I didn’t! I actually made a mental note to install additional locks on the screen door somewhere he’d never reach. + made sure Jared has no off-the-playpen playtime while mum was sick!

I am rarely sick so I am not comfortable + familiar with the feeling of being lousy on my toes + the constant nausea {which I have only felt when I was pregnant} + lethargy. + what i despise the most is that uncomfortable feeling of having to drag yourself to do tasks which you normally do, bathing + washing up the little man, for example, turned out to be quite a herculean task when I use to do it with ease all the time! I figured mums should not be allowed to get sick!
