I was privileged to be invited to Progress Pre-School Gold’s Multiple Intelligence Recognition Day held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium at the RCBC Plaza recently. It was a great excuse to visit my old workplace and spend the afternoon celebrating and knowing more about Multiple Intelligence. It was also a lovely experience to witness the recognition of the Multiple Intelligence kids.
A sumptuous cocktail feast was prepared for all the guests prior to the event. And as we were ushered inside the auditorium before the Recognition Day started, we were each handed a gold-and-blue toga which we are suppose to wear especially for the occasion. Mums were giddy realizing it has been eons ago since we donned our College toga. The experience was both exciting and nostalgic.
The event was hosted by ever-colorful Tessa Prieto-Valdez. Kim “Kuya Kim” Atienza, a variety show co-host and a host of his own TV program, and a tri-athlete, a man of many talents and interests, was the guest of honor for the occasion. He delivered the commencement speech and inspired everyone in the audience with his journey towards honing his multiple intelligences, with the help of his supportive parents.

- Sofia Pablo ~ who receives best in Math and Science awards in school, very active in sports like swimming, ballet, volleyball, and cheer dancing. She is also a Star Scout Team leader.
- Cedric Rafael Uson ~ is a Taekwondo Gold Medalist, a Red Cross member, and a Best in Literary Recital awardee.
- Sean Clarence Cai ~ is a consistent Honor student, a Taekwondo champion, and a class President.
- Luis Raphael Danao ~ is a consistent Top 3 student, a basketball varsity Bronze medalist, and a Student Council officer
- Ciara Russegger ~ is a Spelling Bee champion, an animal rights advocate, and a Soccer Junior League player
The Multi-Achievers each received awards for their Brain Smart, Body Smart, and People Smart achievements.
We did not only recognized multi-achiever children that day, but the Multiple Intelligence advocate mums as well. Mums Jennie Epperson and Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez were also acknowledged for their efforts to raise their children to be multiple achievers by developing their multiple intelligence.
It was a very interesting afternoon and I thank Progress Pre-School GOLD for having me! :-))
The Achiever’s Kit
To help mums encourage and inspire their children to develop their multiple intelligences, Progress Pre-School GOLD also unveiled The Achiever’s Kit during the event. Comprised of 4 parts namely the lanyard, medal casing, 3 discs {representing Brain, Body, and People Smarts} and 30 blank stickers, the Achiever’s Kit is designed to help mum reward her kids different achievements.
The kit is easy enough to use and all mum has to do is recognize each of her little one’s small achievement, write this achievement on a black sticker, classify if the award is under Brain Smart, Body Smart, or People Smart, place the sticker on the space allotted on the appropriate disc, place this disk on the medal casing and attach the lanyard and viola! A medal at home mum can use multiple times to recognize and celebrates the little one’s achievements. This sure will encourage the little tots to achieve and perform more.
Tips On How To Develop Our Children’s Multiple Intelligence
As mums we would love to do everything we can to develop our children’s multiple intelligence. It might not be that simple, but it is good to know that we have products like Progress Pre-School GOLD to assist us in achieving this goal.
Here are a few tips on how you can hone your little ones’ multiple intelligence and raise them to be multiple achievers like the children featured above:
Brain Smart
- Expose your child to brain games like riddles and crosswords to train his brain to solve complex problems for fun
- Let him play with cameras, telescopes, and 3D building supplies like Lego Blocks to teach him to think through images and pictures
- Develop you child’s reading habit at an early age to build his vocabulary early on to help him express himself effectively through words
Body Smart
- Give your child lots of opportunities for playtime as it helps in healthy body development and builds active and healthy bodies.
- Enroll your child in sports or dance classes
- Allow your child opportunities to fix machines, build models, and work with clay.
People Smart
- Encourage your child to join group activities to help him be more imaginative and to boost his leadership skills
- Encourage him to empathize with other kids to help him recognize other children’s emotions.
- Let your child play board games that require two teams to help him appreciate the value of team work.
