If a local public school managed to improve its UPCAT {University of the Philippines College Admissions Test} passing rate this year because of the implementation of a free education online platform, then I would like to read all about it. It is my dream for the little man to study in UP and this will be helpful in keeping us in the right track. Read all about Quipper School in the press release below.

A public school in Quezon City has improved its passing rate for the University of the Philippines College Admissions Test (UPCAT) this year, and all it took was the school-wide implementation of a free education online platform.

Irene Canon of Culiat High School in Quezon City said that with introduction of Quipper School last year, their students’ UPCAT performance improved considerably.

Canon, who is assistant to the principal for administration and OIC school administrator, shared that seven of their students passed the recent UPCAT. In past years, the school was lucky to have at least just one student pass the test. Likewise, a number of their pupils have won top prizes in a number of inter-school competitions.

“I have been with Culiat for 33 long years. I can say this is a very unique experience for all of us,” she said.

This was one of testimonies shared by participants in the recent National Principals Conference organized by Quipper School (QS). The conference was held to work with educators nationwide to find out how it can help improve the quality of education in the Philippines through technology. Participants numbering close to 600 came from as far as Mountain Province to Davao City.

QS is a free supplemental tool for homework management that is administered online. Developed in Japan, the education platform was first implemented in the Philippines last year.

Through QS, teachers assign students homework that can be accessed free of charge through its webpage. The homework is gamified making it fun for students and easy to use for teachers. Making, creating, sending and monitoring homework completion is as easy as using any social media site.

Back-To-School Shopping For Jared + 5 Tips To Remember When Shopping For Your Little Ones

mum's thoughts, parenting 101, tips + tricks, online shopping, shopping
some of the basic stuff we had to buy for the little man for his very first year in school last year

I cannot believe that summer will soon be over and the new school year is opening in about less than a month! Apart from worrying about the school tuition and related expenses, we also have to worry about shopping for our little ones’ school supplies, and other items like shoes, bags, and school uniforms. The little children’s growth spurt is unpredictable so I am expecting that some of the little man’s stuff from last school year may no longer fit him now. I may have to get him a couple of new undershirts and new pairs of socks, too.

Back when the little man was just a tot, we’d check out Expo Mom for great finds for kids. I would buy him unique articles of clothing, as well as essentials like rice powder and toothbrushes which were sold at lower prices or at Buy-1-Take-1 deals at the bazaar. But this hot weather gets me thinking twice about traveling all the way to Makati to check out this year’s bazaar and I was shopping for toddlers’ apparel online the other day and found that ZALORA has a wide selection of kidswear, including t-shirts, shoes, hats and even socks! If I can find most of the items I needed there, who needs to go out and brave the scorching summer heat, right? I can shop at the comfort of my home for Jared’s needs and wait for it to be delivered right at our doorstep! Shopping will be done in no time and I won’t even have to break a sweat!  :-))
