Each year I have been meaning to go to the Scholastic Warehouse Sale but have never found the time to do so. I thought it would be one awesome experience for a book lover like me and I was certain I would drool over a number of titles I would love to add in our little library at home. I have also been meaning to get my own set of Harry Potter Books so I can read them anytime I want without bugging my brother who is the “safe-keeper” of everything Potter-related.
I guess you can tell that I was way too excited to give the Scholastic Warehouse Sale a go this year and I was glad I finally managed to do so! I also managed to bring home a number of great books at a fraction of their original price!
At the Scholastic The Big Christmas Blowout Warehouse Sale
Before heading to the Scholastic Warehouse in Pasig City, I set a very simple goal ~ to get me a copy of each of the Harry Potter books and get something nice for the little man, my niece and nephew, and my inaanaks. Sounds simple and easy enough to accomplish, right?
I went to the warehouse sale on the first day and it was good that I did because the place was not as crowded yet even when we got there very late in the afternoon. The place was located at the back of a row of warehouses in C. Raymundo in Pasig City. It might not be airconditioned but it was well ventilated and the books were not as dusty as I initially thought they would be {since it was a warehouse and all}.
Shelves of books were on display outside, including 3 Harry Potter books that are sold at very cheap prices! Imagine getting a hardbound copy of Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince for only Php250! The book was originally priced at Php795! Two more Potter titles are up for grabs for only Php150 each, I just had to get them even if they are paperbacks. A box set of all 7 books in paperback was also available for only Php1,900!
Shelves for Php20, Php50, Php75, Php100, and Php150 books are also found in the set-up outside, making it very easy to shop for books according to your budget. This also very convenient for those who are looking for books to buy as Christmas presents or for exchange gifts in class and offices. I have found an assortment of Roald Dahl books in the Php50 shelf and got a copy of The BFG for my niece. I also spotted a number of Nancy Drew books on the Php150 shelf.
Inside, there were more shelves of books to check out, it was difficult to decide which ones to see out first. The Geronimo Stilton books are up for grabs at 15% off, as well as the colorful Eric Carle paperbacks for kids. Teen reads like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Dork Diaries are also on sale at 15% off, while a number of fictions, like Aleph by Paulo Coelho, The The Little Prince and books by John Green are up for grabs at 25% off. I got a copy of The Abundance Of Katherines for my sister to add to her collection. I also spotted a special edition Mockingjay copy sold at 25% off.
There were also a wide assortment of toy-and-book box sets for boys and girls that are being sold at 15% off. I particularly liked this Lego book that included a small set of Lego toys, I am betting it will be a hit with my little builder. I also saw these lovely Doodle Journals in different vibrant colors sold at 50% off, which can be perfect gifts for the tween and teen inaanaks and pamangkins!
My Top 5 Book Picks
It was difficult to choose only 5 books among all the books I saw that day at the Scholastic Warehouse Sale 2015, but here are my top choices:
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince {Hardbound} ~ because I am such a huge Harry Potter fan and it is one of my favorite finds during the warehouse sale! I was checking at online shops on Facebook and pre-owned hardbound HP books are still up for grabs at Php500 so this is a very good deal at Php250 {original price is Php795!}
- Everything You Need To Know ~ this big encyclopedia of sorts will be a perfect reference book for the little man and I am hoping to find in it the answers to a number of the little one’s mind-boggling questions. This is originally priced at Php720.
- Boys 2000 Stickers Artsy, Silly, Puzzly And Sticky ~ Jared absolutely loves stickers so I just had to get one! It has sooo many stickers inside which guarantees hours of fun and enjoyment for the little one. This is originally price at Php625 and is now sold at 15% off.
- Dr. Seuss: Six by Seuss {Treasury of Dr. Seuss Classics} {Harbound} ~ this big book is a collection of 6 of Dr. Seuss books which we do not have in our collection yet, including Lorax. I was also thinking of giving it as a present for my inaanak. I got 15% off from its original price of Php725.
- The Lego Movie: Ready, Steady, Stick! Activity Book ~ this is something my little man will love and true enough, he was busy with the activities in the book as soon as I handed it to him. It is packed with colorful stickers of The Lego Movie characters, including the main protagonists, Emmet and Wyldstyle. The little one had the time of his life putting the stickers onto their corresponding pages and finishing the puzzles and the mazes. I got 15% off its original price of Php245.
The Scholastic’s Big Christmas Blowout Warehouse Sale in a nutshell
I am sure you have a lot of questions about the warehouse sale you have been itching to ask, so I have prepared a run-down of the things you ought to know before embarking on your book shopping spree:
- What? The Scholastic’s Big Christmas Blowout Warehouse Sale offers a wide selection of picture books, fiction and nonfiction books, popular series, references, inspirational arts and crafts, teacher’s resources with discount of up to 80%. Books are up for grabs for as low as Php20, while audio books are available at 50% off!
- When? It takes place daily between 9am-6pm until 23 December, 2015.
- Where? At the Grolier Scholastic Warehouse in 70 C. Raymundo St., Pasig City
Here is a map to the place so you won’t have trouble looking for it:
What to do to fully enjoy the Scholastic Warehouse sale
- Bring enough cash ~ If you plan to splurge, which I am betting you will, make sure to bring sufficient funds for all the books you want to buy. Some are dirt cheap at Php20 or Php50, you will have a hard time resisting to get them, too.
- Bring a big ecobag ~ where you can stash all your book haul for the day. For those who do not have a bag, you can get a free Scholastic ecobag for a minimum purchase of Php3,000.
- Tag along the little bookworms ~ it might be a bit tricky to do so, but it will be well worth the experience to tag the little readers along and let them choose their own books. If we live nearer, I would’ve done the same. I am sure Jared would have enjoyed it. Although, be mindful to drop by during the non-peak hours or days if you decide to bring the little ones so it will be easier for them to move around and pick their own books.
- Make a list ~ you might get all excited that it is best to make a list of the books you plan to get prior to your visit. Or perhaps you can make a summery of the people you want to gift with books this Christmas and their ages so you can match them with age-appropriate books that you can find in the warehouse sale.
It sure is such a lovely experience to shop for books and it is even better if you are buying them at a discounted price. Books make perfect Christmas gifts, too, for the book lovers to add to their collections, as well as for young readers to encourage them to read more. Books are, indeed, gifts you can open again and again.
Which is your favorite among my top picks and what books do you plan to get at the Scholastic Warehouse Sale?

I would love to buy the entire set of Harry Potter books for my daughter at the Scholastic Earehouse sale. I think a book is a perfect gift for almost any child or most adults as most people like to read sometimes . I still have quite a bit of Christmas shopping to do and you have given me a great idea .

As a Reading Specialist, I know all about the amazingness of Scholastic. I live somewhat nearby where they hold warehouse sales but I have never been able to go to one yet. I am just so glad that there are options like this that help students both at home and at school. Everyone should know the power and joy of reading!
It is true. I believe reading makes one a better person.
Oh I wish we had this here! I could get all of my shopping done at one time.
When the book fair is here we always get a bunch of books but this would be awesome.
We don’t have anything like that here.

any visit to the bookstore is always a treat. It is also good that most bookstores carry many other items aside from books and school supplies. I hope you will also checkout this warehouse sale.
We went to one of these when living in Maryland and they had a warehouse in Delaware. I had a hard time NOT spending a fortune on all the great deals. I’m sure I’d find several at a current sale for the boys to read or as gifts for my nephews and niece.
My boys love books, they would definitely enjoy rummaging through this book sale.
I bet they will, I hope you will get to visit soon!
Me and my husband are both book worms. Good thing my son has also developed a love for reading and that this is so near the office so we will surely drop by the place! 😀
Let me know how your visit goes! 🙂

I do hope you find a Scholastic Warehouse near you. Indeed, we also loved the Harry Potter series and I cannot wait to introduce the books to my little man 🙂
