Pregnancy and being a mum for the first time are both exciting stages in a woman’s life but they can be the most trying and terrifying, too, especially if you have no idea of the challenges that lies prior and ahead of pregnancy. Back in the day, I was overly excited to welcome my little bundle of joy but I was also filled with apprehension as to whether I will be a good mum or if I will be able to care for him the way a mum should. The floods of worry is enough to get a good woman down and not having my Mama {as she has passed on two years before my pregnancy} around did not help. I relied mainly on maternal instincts, the dozen or so pregnant mums that I had the fortune to share the experience with, as well as the online parenting forum I frequent then for tips and trips concerning motherhood.
It is so much easier to be pregnant and be a mum these days given the many resources available online, not to mention the many trade fairs and expos dedicated to motherhood and parenting. In fact, another expo is coming this April ~ the very first Mom & Baby Expo!
The Mom & Baby Expo 2017
Organized by the Perinatal Association of the Philippines {PAP}, together with its trusted affiliates, the Mom & Baby Expo is slated on 21-23 April, 2017 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Halls 2 and 3. Opening ceremonies for the Expo is scheduled at 10Am of 21 April followed by a press conference. It will be open to the public by 2pm onwards until 10pm. Entrance is only Php50!
PAP President Dra. Belen Velasco enthused that the objective of the expo is “simple yet powerful; to impart advices and traverse new ideas moms and expectant moms can use that will ultimately strengthen their maternal bond with their babies. This is very exciting because this something big, something we have envisioned to happen for the longest time. And now, finally, we are doing it.”
What sets this expo apart from its previous contemporaries is that this time it will be organized by the experts themselves, who are passionate and have decades of proven and justified experience in their fields of expertise, and know everything there is to know about perinatal care. Past PAP President Dr. Diosdado Mariano shares that “the Expo is an opportunity to analyze and seek solutions to existing issues pertaining too maternal-fetal and newborn areas in an engaging and fun way.”
What to expect at the Expo
- Series of talks from the perinatal experts {perinatal, by the way, pertains to the time, usually a number of weeks, immediately before and after the birth of a child}
- Fun and informative activities
- Pocket workshops
- A showcase of different facets of perinatal healthcare such as products, services, technology, and new methods
- Selling booths and food stalls
You can visit Mom and Baby Expo 2017 Official Facebook Page, facebook.com/mombabyexpoph or follow them on Twitter, for more details about the event.

Thank you for sharing this. I would love to go and attend some workshops and talks by the experts. I wonder if it’s going to be crowded, though. I tend to be put off by gatherings with so many people present. I don’t want to be weaving my way through a sea of people. Have you attended the Mom and Baby Expo in the past? How was it?
I have attended a similar event in the past, not this one, though, as this is the very first time they are having this event. A great tip is to go on opening day as people normally flock during the second and last day.
This is what I miss about Manila. There are a lot of interesting expos and it is happening almost every week. I wish I live near there so I can visit expos that I find interesting such as this and of course, to meet with you again!
I feel you mommy. Even if I live about an hour or so away from Manila, I still get frustrated when I can join different mum/parenting events held at far-flung places like Glorietta, BGC, or Rockwell. Oftentimes, I really need to make the effort to attend.
