Live today. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Just today. Inhabit your moments. ~ Jerry Spinelli
Sometimes it is too easy to be swept away by the ebb of memories or the pangs of worries for the unforeseen future. We often neglect that to actually make the most of life, we need to be present in the moment ~ in the now. I have been doing Oprah and Deepak’s 21-Day Meditation Experience and I am learning so much about focusing on each moment. It is never easy, really. I know for a fact that whilst I concentrate hard on being 100% present while bonding with the little man, I also struggle to mute the pressing demands of the day ~ the dishes, the laundry, the online deadlines, and backlogs, and so on ~ as they drone on in my head. It takes constant practice, I guess, and I am a work in progress.
One of the things that I learned from Oprah’s meditation practices is that I need to practice gratitude regularly in order to fully appreciate the now, and ultimately, life itself.
This week, I am most grateful for:
:heart: precious moments that make life worth living for
:heart: new tasks and opportunities for the blogs
:heart: conversations with my little man {children do say the most amusing things}
:heart: finishing off tasks from my seemingly-unending to-do list
:heart: surprises in the mail
:heart: the Christmas season just right around the bend
:heart: finally having the time to visit my parents
:heart: sunny days!
:heart: finishing my laundry and folding them afterwards
:heart: lovely conversations with my equally lovely neighbor
What are you thankful for today?
