Parental involvement plays a key factor in your child’s academic success not only for conventional reasons. It’s not just hunching over reading your child or helping him in his projects every time they come home.

It also goes beyond things like volunteering in the classroom, involving yourself in the regular education of your child, or spending time with your child in any of his or her school work.

These are indeed the usual stuff most of us parents do. However, these are only part of what effective parenting does for his or her child’s education. We’ll go as far as to say that it’s not the most important part.

In this article, we’ll discuss some effective methods of assisting your child’s learning and education.

Sustained engagement

Multiple research shows that effective parental involvement takes care of the most important factor in any academically successful child: engagement. This means that a child is fully involved in the learning process ~ enthusiastic, motivated, and responsible. Engagement in any student regardless of education setting he or she is in, whether public, private, home-school, etc.

More than the school or education spending, the real challenge for us is if we can keep our kids motivated and interested in the learning process for years to come.

On the other hand, disengagement from school is not just an educational problem but can be traced back to how learners are when they are away from school. Studies clearly show that lack of interest in school is affected by worrisome home setting ~ fighting parents, nutrition, neighborhood, drug and alcohol use, depression, etc.

Tips + Tricks: Catering To Parents In Your Blog

tips and tricks, blogging, tips on writing, blogging tips

Blogging can be a lot of fun because you get to focus on something that interests you. It is especially appealing to parents because it is a way to share everything you learn as you navigate life with kids. Those that check in to read the blog are probably just as frustrated and sleep deprived as the writer. A community of parents online may be the only social activity a new mom gets during her first few months at home. Even working parents can feel isolated due to their new role as a parent. There are some specific ways to make sure your blog is a positive place for parents.

Content

You may be a die-hard breastfeeding, stay-at-home mom, yet you want to be considerate with your content. You are naturally going to attract other moms with the same values. A blog with a narrowed down subject matter is usually more successful. This is one of the first things you learn when you research content about how to create a blog. It is important, however, to avoid negativity in your writing. You never know who is going to visit your site. You may attract people that are trying to learn about a breastfeeding lifestyle, for example. You do not want to have anything on your site that is demeaning to parents with other styles. As a blogger, you are in a great position to encourage and educate.

Mum Eats: The Little Man’s Aristocrat Birthday Lunch

our birthday pancit of the day 🙂

Note: This post was first published on my foodie blog, Mum Eats, on 03 September 2013  :plate:

We went to Aristocrat in SM North ~ The Block for the little man’s birthday lunch. Although this restaurant is well-known for their barbecue, we decided to skip it that day since the little man is not yet eating that. We opted for their friend chicken, instead, coupled with their pancit and ordered a couple more dishes. For our serving of vegetables, we had an order of fresh lumpia and laing. To complete our meal, we also had a serving of their beef caldereta.

The little man was preoccupied with his new toys, a pair of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figure, which we gifted him for his birthday. He only had a couple of spoonfuls of his serving of pancit before he went on to play with his new toys. The grown ups, on the other hand, had a really satisfying meal. I simply love the fresh lumpia and its sauce! Laing is something I do not eat quite often, since I do not know how to prepare it, so I really enjoyed this dish. It was just delicious with the right amount of spice in it. The crowd favorite that afternoon, though, will have to be the beef caldereta. It was tasty and the beef is so tender. I wish I can make my own version of this dish, I’d probably cook it every week if I know how to prepare it! 🙂
