“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born.” ~ Osho
A mother’s story is always inspiring and inspirational. We might have different journeys and adventures to take but there is one thing that connects us all together ~ our undying love for our children. And I appreciate my mother’s story now that I am a mum myself. It is wonderful that we have this one special day when we honor all the beautiful and wonderful mums in our lives, although I am sure we all have our little Mother’s Day celebration on a day-to-day basis. It isn’t a simple job after all and the least we can do is to celebrate how our mums made our lives a little better and easier daily.
Most mums might have a grander and more elaborate way of celebrating Mother’s Day but I thought there is no better way to celebrate it than by welcoming your newborn into the world. Here’s a touching and heart-warming video documenting women who became mums on Mother’s Day. I am sure their wonderful experience made the day even more special. Watching this brought me back to the day when I became a mum for the very first time. It was a surreal experience and being totally clueless made it more baffling. I remember vividly how I was half conscious struggling to fight off the general anesthesia and how I finally gave in to sleep after hearing the doctor declared “it’s a boy” and hear my little one’s soft cries. That day is, and always will be, one of the days I will cherish the most when I was able to give birth to my biggest blessing and when I realized how strong I could really be if I tried. I just wish I had videos and more photos documenting the special day that I can show the little man when he finally asked how babies were born.
Kudos to the people at Champion for championing mums over the years!
I, on the other hand, had a very simple yet special celebration on Mother’s Day. I brought the little man to one of his favorite fast foods as he is currently collecting their latest Happy Meal Toys. We’ve been on a fast food diet for 2 consecutive days so we can collect all 6 toys but I have no complaints because for the first time, McDonald’s featured books in their Happy Meal collection and this mum is all thumbs up! Additional thumbs up, too, for the free sundae cone for mums in celebration of Mother’s Day! We spent the rest of the day visiting my Mama and Papa at the memorial and going home to my parents house to spend time with my sisters and my niece and nephew. It was a simple day but I am more than happy to spend it with the most important people in my life! :-))
