A Moment When I realized That My Little Man Is No Longer A Baby

my little playschooler

Time does fly when one is having fun and I guess no matter how difficult and challenging motherhood is I have the most wonderful time of my life and in retrospect I wonder where the almost-four-years have gone.

My little man is no longer a baby. In fact, I am sensing he will try to get rid of me sooner than I will expect and accept. I was just looking at him during one of those sessions in playschool when this epiphany traversed in my head. Gone were the days when I was the center of his universe and when he was reliant on me on everything that he needed and wanted. Now, he would like to do things on his own, if he can get away with it. He can now spend a considerable amount of time away from me and will only miss me during the first hour that I am away or when I was taking very long with whatever it is that is keeping me away from him.

story telling time with Teacher Kai, Jared + the rest of his classmates

I know I cannot keep him shielded and protected in my arms and that one day I will just have to let him go and spread his wings and explore what the world has in store for him. I am sure I am going to have a very severe attack of separation anxiety by then, but in the meantime, I will just enjoy the most of what we have together and relish the warmth of his wet kisses and warm embrace while he lets me!

B is for Book Depository

I discovered Book Depository in April and since I have spare fund in my Paypal account waiting to be spent, I browsed around and found these lovely books that I cannot simply turn down. Yes, it was a bad thing to do online shopping when you have the budget, since almost always you’d just end up splurging!  Laugh

I was able to buy a number of books for myself, my sister and the little man. This copy of The Little Prince, one of my all-time favorite books, is one of the first ones to arrive. Who can resist this? It is a very good read, something that I would love for the little man to read when he is bigger and only costs me $2.78! The books are also individually shipped in bubble wrap envelopes to make sure the owner receive them in very good condition. And what’s best about Book Depository is that they offer free shipping worldwide, yes, including the Philippines! You just have to wait for awhile before your orders are shipped, but I tell you it was well worth the wait.

Apart from The Little Prince, I also ordered the following books:

  • The Silver Linings Playbook {$9.80}
  • Guess How Much I Love Your ~ Hardbound {2.65}
  • Cars 2 Ultimate Sticker Book ~ {6.64}
  • Cars 2 Lift-and-Look Book ~ Board Book {11.04}
  • Mater’s Amazin’ Adventures in Paperback {3.88}

I just stopped myself from ordering a copy of the latest book by Paolo Coelho, but I will be eyeing that the next time I order. If you have not discovered Book Depository yet, I think it is high time that you check them out now!  Grin

Curbing on Online Shopping

Blog Photo Challenge, #fmsphotoaday, online shopping, 2013 goals

Yes, I know I went a bit overboard with online shopping last year. I ordered a wide array of items, ranging from books, to clothes, to children’s toys, among others. I have a number of favorite which, unfortunately, I was not able to feature here just yet {but will do once I find the time Wink}. Online shopping, after all, is the most convenient thing and add boredom to the fray and a Paypal account with occasional balance, and it is contagious.

This year, as I plan to save more for the rainy days, my own savings account and, hopefully, for a yearly vacation with the little man, I shall be curbing on my online spending. No more browsing on online shops whenever I am bored to death in the middle of the night thinking of other much more interesting things to do. Of course, I’d probably make an exception on one or two occasions! Wink

Just like a few days ago when I saw these colorful Washi tapes on this site, I just had to peak and get meself some. I will use the colorful tapes for my postcarding endeavors. I also included these colorful straws for my little man. My order arrived promptly and even came with this beautiful paper surprise! I shall post about my order soon! I guess am all set for this month with my online shopping! ^_^

I also plan to be a bit more organized with my finances, or whatever semblance of it I may have, and shall be keeping tabs on my expenses, as well as on my Paypal withdrawal and stuff.  Am sure making notes will be very helpful in letting me know of my progress or my lapses. Oh well, am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be successful in this goal.

What habits of last  year you’d like to discontinue this 2013?

Reading More Books in 2013

books, reading, simple pleasures, me-time, Blog Photo Challenge

Yep, that is one of my goals for the New Year, too, to build up my virtual bookshelves/library and go back to my first love ~ reading. Last year I was able to read more books and complete my Shopaholic Series collection. Even when I was busy looking after the little man and keeping the house organized, not to mention doing all these activities online, I was able to squeeze in finishing a number of paperbacks during my downtime. This year I plan to read more books in my stash that has been lying dusty for ages now, including classic novels, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

something beginning with “t” ~ Tolstoy Wink

I have also started stocking up on books late last year by buying them as gifts to myself {it was one of my simple pleasures in life! ^_^}. I chanced upon these hardbound copies of The Witch of Portobello by Paolo Coelho and Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella on this e-bay shop and I just can’t resist. The books are sold at only P200 each! Oh and I also got a copy of J.D. Salinger’s The Cather in the Rye the last time I went to the bookstore. And my sister, Bel, gifted me with this millennium edition of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina last Christmas! ^_^

Am all set for the first quarter of this year with plans to finish all these books on my stash. What have you been reading lately?
