Reading More Books in 2013

Yep, that is one of my goals for the New Year, too, to build up my virtual bookshelves/library and go back to my first love ~ reading. Last year I was able to read more books and complete my Shopaholic Series collection. Even when I was busy looking after the little man and keeping the house organized, not to mention doing all these activities online, I was able to squeeze in finishing a number of paperbacks during my downtime. This year I plan to read more books in my stash that has been lying dusty for ages now, including classic novels, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

something beginning with “t” ~ Tolstoy 😉

I have also started stocking up on books late last year by buying them as gifts to myself {it was one of my simple pleasures in life! ^_^}. I chanced upon these hardbound copies of The Witch of Portobello by Paolo Coelho and Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella on this e-bay shop and I just can’t resist. The books are sold at only P200 each! Oh and I also got a copy of J.D. Salinger’s The Cather in the Rye the last time I went to the bookstore. And my sister, Bel, gifted me with this millennium edition of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina last Christmas! ^_^

Am all set for the first quarter of this year with plans to finish all these books on my stash. What have you been reading lately?

I plan to walk more this year

Blog Photo Challenge, #fmsphotoaday, 2013 goals, mum's thoughts

Apart from my goal to be healthy, what actually led me to aspire to walk more this year is the hope to lose a few pounds that I have accumulated whilst living a half-sedentary life at home. Walking can be a great form of exercise, especially on those days when I feel like my bum is growing abnormally large from too much sitting. I bet it will also be good for the little man. He, after all, needs more outlet for all the extra energy.

I shall begin that plan by walking to and from the house, instead of riding a tricycle, whenever we go out to run errands or go somewhere. The walk from the house to the main road may only take us about 15 minutes but if we can do it regularly, I bet it will work wonders on our bodies. Apart from that I will also be saving P20 for each tricycle ride that I will not take! 🙂

Oh well, now that I will be walking more, I cannot help but wish that we have those lovely streets in Baguio here. Walking will surely be one great adventure if you’re doing up and down interesting slopes and plains. Check out this street photo we took of the Post Office Loop last November. This was taken less than an hour after we arrived to the City of Pines {for more of our Baguio adventure, you can check out my travel blog, musings on meanderings}.

Cleaning Up After the Holidays

Blog Photo Challenge, #fmsphotoaday, home, home chores

It has been more than a week since we bid goodbye to 2012 and to all the hoopla that Christmas and the New Year celebrations bring. It is now time to clean up and tidy up after the holidays and don’t you just find that rather tiring? Blame it on the weather or on the fact that I’m back to my old routine of burning the midnight oil to update my blogs that I am rather sluggish and lazy when the morning comes.

I have not done much of tidying up lately. In fact the tree is still up and I am just asking the little man for permission to put it and all its accoutrements away. Of course all the gifts under the tree has long been opened and used, save for these two lonely packages whose recipients failed to pay us a visit for the holidays. Am going to have to put those away, too, maybe safe keep it so that I can give it to my godchild the next time I see him or find other use for it somehow.

I know am going to have to muster enough enthusiasm to box the Christmas tree and its trimmings sooner than later. I intend to use them for a longer period of time, so storing them properly is of utmost importance. I will put the balls, the lights and the flower decorations in separate boxes before I seal it away in a big brown box.

Anyway, I have managed to snap a photo of our tree, including some of the gifts under it  just before they went to their respective owners and I am sharing that with you today. The Girbaud and Sanuk gift bags are mine, gifted by Jared’s dad on our anniversary! ^_^

How about you are you done cleaning up after the holidays?
