My nephew, Sean celebrated his 11th birthday earlier this month and he requested that we treat him to Wence’ Dessert Cafe. We’ve been wanting to try the place out but never got the chance to do it yet, so we set out to visit the place on Sunday afternoon.

It was a full house that afternoon and we were made to wait outside for awhile until a table is available. After several minutes, we were informed that a table for 6 has been vacated at the 2nd floor.

It is a very small place and since it was packed with diners that day, it was a relief to be upstairs where there are less people and noise. I wish they’d made the windows bigger, though, as the limited space upstairs is really claustrophobic!

Mum Eats: The Little Man’s Aristocrat Birthday Lunch

our birthday pancit of the day 🙂

We went to Aristocrat in SM North ~ The Block for the little man’s birthday lunch. Although this restaurant is well-known for their barbecue, we decided to skip it that day since the little man is not yet eating that. We opted for their friend chicken, instead, coupled with their pancit and ordered a couple more dishes. For our serving of vegetables, we had an order of fresh lumpia and laing. To complete our meal, we also had a serving of their beef caldereta.

The little man was preoccupied with his new toys, a pair of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figure, which we gifted him for his birthday. He only had a couple of spoonfuls of his serving of pancit before he went on to play with his new toys. The grown ups, on the other hand, had a really satisfying meal. I simply love the fresh lumpia and its sauce! Laing is something I do not eat quite often, since I do not know how to prepare it, so I really enjoyed this dish. It was just delicious with the right amount of spice in it. The crowd favorite that afternoon, though, will have to be the beef caldereta. It was tasty and the beef is so tender. I wish I can make my own version of this dish, I’d probably cook it every week if I know how to prepare it! 🙂

Mum Eats: Yummy + Healthy Organic Treats At Earth Kitchen {BGC}

Note: This post was first published on my foodie blog, Mum Eats, on 05 February, 2017.  :plate:

I was in BGC on Chinese New Year to attend Mommy Mundo’s Mindful Mom Re-Treat. The workshop was held at Earth Kitchen. It is a lovely cozy place for lunch dates or afternoon coffee with family and friends. It sure was a wise decision to spend my Saturday morning with them as I absolutely enjoyed it and learned a lot from it. I will share more about the re-treat on my mum blog.

Apart from the workshop, I also enjoyed the organic treats Earth Kitchen served us that day. It was a light yet fulling meal, full of organic and natural goodness. I enjoyed the Fish and Roasted Sesame {Php240}, which looks like a deconstructed soft taco dish. It has loro fish, salad greens, cucumber, seaweed and topped with roasted sesame dressing. Because I am a pasta lover, I guess it is a given that I will enjoy their Ragu alla Bolognese {Php280}. It is made of handmade fettuccine, organic beef, organic tomato sauce, and a delicious mix of herbs including tarragon, parsley, and basil. It was also a delight to find out that they made everything from scratch, including the tacos and their assortment of pastas. They also source most of their ingredients from organic local farmers, so eating in this place will not only be a delight for your tummy but for your conscience, too! ^_^

My Earth Kitchen experience was absolutely amazing that I am now craving for their hearty meals again. I sure hope I can go back there with my boys one of these days. If you are a fan of delicious food, as well as organic and healthy treats, make sure to give Earth Kitchen a try.
