calculate your child's risk at allergy

kids, babies, allergies

It is best to be aware of your child’s risk at allergies so you would know how to manage it + deal with it properly. That is why when I saw this ad about KIDS Allergy-O-Meter in  my Facebook’s sidebar, I did not hesitate to check it out. Knowing that my son is a little sensitive (not to mention more susceptible to allergies as most babies born via C-section), I can use all the help I can get about allergies, alleviating them + preventing them altogether (if it were possible).

The link directed me to the MomCenter site + this is what appeared when I clicked the Begin button:

kids, babies, allergiesIt is a well-known fact that a child’s risk to allergies can very well be connected with his parent’s very own allergic reactions. Using this tab, I was prompted to enter my + Jared’s dad’s (+ in some other cases, you will also be prompted to include allergies experienced by your other children) experience with different types of allergies. I had a few on several occasions + Jared’s dad has his share, too.

Here is the result:

kids, babies, allergies

Jared has about 60-80% risk at allergy. Somehow, I expected it, as his allergies actually manifested earlier on in his infant days which resulted to him taking a lactose-free formula until he was a year old.  We have also delayed giving him solids so as to prevent further allergies from manifesting earlier than necessary, as per his pedia’s advice. We’ve also purchased a nebulizer to be on the ready in case coughs + colds as severe as he experienced in May happens again, which I hope will never happen again 🙁

It was no good news, but at least I am now aware of it + can take some necessary precautions to prevent him from having allergies.

Go ahead + check out your child’s risk at allergy. Simply visit Momcenter + look for the KIDS Allergy-O-Meter’s tab.

my tot is simply growing up too fast!

This is my entry to Techie She Lucky Blogger Weekly Giveaways Week 10. This week’s prize is $10 Cash via Paypal from Mel Cole of Hearts Content of a Mama.

Jared now

My little man will be turning 2 in about two weeks time, I guess it really is so true when they said “time flies when you are having fun.” I was totally enjoying every moment I spend with my son + I was oblivious to the time wheezing by.  How he’d grown into the bundle-of-energy toddler that he is now from the soft-crying-bundle-of-joy of two years ago so fast, is a mystery to me. I might have been a clueless mum but I must’ve done something right eh! He is simply growing way too fast, I don’t think I would have the heart to let him go on his first day in pre-school or his first playdate without me, or his first day in big school, in high school or College! Or his first actual date! Thinking of those possibilities is actually sending my heart into overdrive + makes a heap of worrier out of me – I am such a worry wart! But, I guess, I cannot stop what’s inevitable + somehow I needed to deal with all the possibilities. I’d say I’d take it one day at at time, one single step at a time…

For now, I’ll make the most of what I’ve got. I’ll make the most of our snuggle + cuddle time + of the time he’d willingly kiss mum on the lips or do it out-of-the-blue just to surprise me(he loves seeing my reaction)! Or those occasion where I can tag him along everywhere I go. Those were my simply pleasure…those were my precious treasure…

Jared then

musings about july

Just a few more days + this month will be over soon, but I haven’t posted about the reasons why I was looking forward to July this year + why I simply love this month 😉

Here, let me count the reasons why:

  1. I simply love July since a month from now my little man, Jared, will be turning a big two, + his blog, jared’s little corner, will be celebrating its birthday along with mum 😀 + although there won’t be no fancy celebration this year, it will not make the event less exciting or make me look forward to it less. We might go out-of-town even for just a day on Jared’s big day or the days nearing that date 😀
  2. The last installment to the epic saga, Harry Potter + the Deathly Hallows comes out in the cinema this month. We have been highly anticipating it + although it will be a bittersweet experience to watch our hero for the last time on the big screen, it is something I wouldn’t want to miss! Long live Potter!
  3. This month is also the month my fave, incubus, will be coming down to Manila for a concert at the Big Dome on the 28th + though I haven’t got a ticket yet (which I shall be posting soon as I got one!) this is something I really look forward to! This early I have to be good to my siblings so they will look after the little man whilst mum watches a concert 😀
  4. A lot of exciting + new things are happening in the blogosphere, with loads of giveaways too, and although I was spending more hours in front of the PC + spending less + less hours sleeping, I definitely have no complaints..well except that I hope my pc can cope up with all the things I have to do online, that is! 🙂

So, what are you looking forward to this month?
