a mum’s happiness is…

mommy moments, simple pleasure, motherhood, weekends

…looking into my son’s smiling eyes + seeing how is enjoying his carousel ride immensely, waving at his tita, + smiling + laughing all that time.  It makes all the trouble of braving the fiery hot Sunday afternoon just so we can take refuge in the mall, worth it!  I also noticed that he is so relaxed as the carousel goes round + round, gone are the traces of the scared baby who’d want to get down the ride after several minute into it, + as if to demonstrate, he’s also taken his hands off the handle bars a few times, of course I had to remind him to hold on to it, but nevertheless, it was one proud mommy moment, my son is growing up, indeed!

little children are truly the easiest to please, that is why I am thankful everyday that I have my not-so-little Jared, my little piece of heaven, my infinite source of happiness…

my surprise valentine’s treat

valentine's, simple pleasures, food, browns

Look what I got in the mail in time for Valentine’s? A surprise treat from Russian Cookie House. I won in their Russian Cookie House Valentine’s Giveaway + true enough they sent me my prize on Valentine’s Day! I fell in love with the elaborate packaging comprised of a heart-shaped red box complete with a “Just for you” note, a red rose + a very beautiful brown ribbon.

Valentine's, food, simple pleasures, browns

Who wouldn’t fall head over heels for this beautiful packaging. The box is made of sturdy carton + I will be re-purposing it to hold some of my knick-knacks once the goodies are gone, which won’t be too long now 😀

Valentine's, food, simple pleasures, browns

I love the simple yet delicious taste of the white cookies {whatever you call them?} + I especially enjoyed the yummy + crunchy taste of the chocolate ones! This is something I’d enjoy long before Valentine’s is over.

Big thank you goes out to Ms. Gina of Russian Cookie House for sending the goodies promptly!

Am sharing these delectable browns to Thursday Brownies, by the way! 🙂

i heart california maki!

food, simple pleasures, orange tuesdays

Yes, I do! I have been on a roll since December when I tasted these delectable California Maki from the Christmas fair at our town’s capitol. I was so smitten I had to go back to the fair a few times just so I can buy some more of these goodies. I only tried the ones in Tokyo, Tokyo + I must say the ones sold locally is at par with those sold at the famous food chain. They are freshly prepared, in fact, when I bought my very first batch, the owner of the booth has just finished preparing a new batch of makis to sell. She even provided free sampler, which I cannot turn down, of course. A 6-piece pack sells for 50 bucks {about $1.25}, which I guess fits my budget perfectly.

I have been craving for these little orange goodies, that I was glad I found some at the supermarket when we went to the mall on Sunday. I bought a 10-piece pack for Php 90. It was good but I find it a little dry for my taste. I ate the other half for dinner + ate the remaining the next day.

I can eat California Maki everyday + I won’t get tired of it, but, sadly, I can only buy it from the grocers whenever we visit the mall. I hope I can find the seller from the trade fair soon enough. Or maybe, I’d search for recipes online + see if I can make a homemade version of it! ^_^

Sharing the orange Makis in my orange little plate with Orange Tuesdays 🙂
