The recent typhoon that hit the country left me with 3 days of no internet connection + surprisingly a lot of time in my hands. Well, there is really nothing much to do when the rain was falling down for days on end. Going out to catch some fresh air + rid ourselves of cabin feverish symptoms is definitely out of the question + any plans of doing the laundry is thrown out the window, too! To top it all off, the constant bed weather leaves the little man dosing off for more hours during the day, leaving me with unexpected free time.
To while my time away, I decided to watch several movies that are lying dormant in my hard drive for a quite a long time now. I really wanted to go for the Heroes series since I have an entire season’s worth of episodes saved in my PC, plus I also miss watching my favorite characters there! But I decided against it, since I might not be able to finish it anyway + there is no way I’ll be watching it when Jared’s awake. Way too violent for delicate eyes!
After some digging I found this films worthy of my precious time off. I watched Milk, a true-to-life story of Harvey Milk, who championed gay + lesbian rights in the ’60’s. This film was top-billed by Sean Penn + I’d like to say he really is quite effective in portraying the role. Am not sure if he won an Oscar for it, but I do know this film created much hoopla when it came out.
The other film I saw was the documentary, Zeitgeist. If you are for conspiracy theories this film is simply for you. It talks about the church’s manipulation on stories about the life of Christ + how it was pattered after other influential religious figures before him. It also talks about the conspiracy surrounding the 9-11 attack in New York, involving the ex-president family’s involvements + transactions with Osama bin Laden. Quite serous stuff really, but it will be worthwhile.
I treasure this me-time + am just hoping my very busy days will grant me another impromptu pocket me-times 😀
