homeschooling resources online

homeschooling, online resources for mums, early children education

Ever since I became a mum, I have always been fascinated about homeschooling + dreamed of homeschooling my little man one day. I do not know much about educating little children, all I know is that I am a mum who would love to teach her little one way before he goes to the big school, to teach him the essentials + the basics at home before he learns it from other people. + hopefully, I can home school him through out his elementary school days!

I have witnessed a number of parent-homeschooler in the EXPO Kid last month + I have really been moved by their passion + yearn to do the same for my kiddo. Jared is almost 3, + I believe that now is probably the right time we start our little home school. + I am doing my homework + checked out loads of homeschooling resources online just to get a bird’s eye view of how it truly works and, simply put, to know where to start + know which things to teach my little tot!

I have stumbled upon these very interesting sites which I shall be sharing with you in the future. They have loads of posts, instructions, tips + free printables to aid our homeschooling journey. One even has a blow-by-blow account of how their homeschooling go about in a day just to give her readers a clear picture of how interesting + amusing it is to educate your children by yourself + I am loving every bit of this! I am really having information-overload + is just overwhelmed at the amount of things to do + learn. But, I do hope I will be able to get over the initial shock + jump-start our class very soon. Thank goodness for the world wide web, it has been a goldmine for relevant information on blogging, motherhood, + a whole lot more. Now I am learning all these new things on homeschooling too, + I do not even need to spend money on homeschooling books so I can spend it on other important things like homeschooling supplies! 😉

As a minor preparation, I bought a few arts ‘n crafts supplies the last time we visited the bookstore a few weeks back. I got the little man a new set of crayons, a bunch of cute soccer ball erasers {which he now plays + counts + puts on his toy cars as passengers sometimes, too!}, a pair of blue safety scissors for the little hands to get busy + a drawing book where he can create numerous doodles when he feels like it!

prelude to the preggie ward reunion

motherhood, pregnancy, meeting up with mum friends, toddlers

Pregnancy has been one of the most profound and enjoyable part of my life, apart from all the beautiful changes taking place in my body {I am a beautiful pregnant, or so they say, and I particularly loved the cleavage! ;)}, what could top the feeling of having your baby kick and move around inside your tummy, right? It was one of the most things I miss after I gave birth.

There are hard times, of course, and don’t ever forget the morning sickness which turned out to be round-the-clock sickness since I get to be sick at any time of day, regardless if it’s day or night. It would have all been a one-woman struggle and the days would have been a tad boring and uneventful if I have not found these beautiful, not to mention very-pregnant, too, women!

See, in my previous place of work, a call centre {yes, it was not misspelled as we work in a UK-based one}, as consideration to women in the family way, they’d let you opt for the best schedule, in the early hours of the morning, mind you {which is a gift in itself as most of the shifts at work begins at 1pm!} to suit the morning sickness and your pregnant body’s demands, as well as allow you to get enough sleep at nights. There are also lesser calls at these times as it was already midnight in the UK by then. So instead of getting the usual work loads, and the usual calls requesting for common listings for locksmiths in Nottingham or a plasterer in Birmingham, we’d normally get calls asking for 24-hour takeaways or restaurants. The worse thing you can get is a drunk caller looking for an escort service, who’d say a litany of expletives before even recalling the name of the business he was looking for in the first place. I would normally cringe at this and worry that my little man’s delicate ears will here the not-so-pleasant words! 😀

Oh, sorry for being a bit nostalgic today. I miss my old workplace and my workmates, I guess, and I also had my reasons, apart from missing our preggie ward so much, you know. ‘Cause last week I had a fun play date with my preggie ward-mate, Moi and our little men. We purchased this online promo for Fun Ranch a few weeks back and decided to use our vouchers last week. A best decision, really, as Jared and Rylan had a blast playing with each other, trying out the slides and roaming around the playground. We did not get to chat much, though, since they arrived a bit late due to traffic, and we were early coming from another event prior to our play date, plus the boys cannot wait to play, it was really nice seeing her again and I hope we’ll be able to do it again with all our other preggie ward-mates very soon! 🙂

nice to know you wednesdays #17

nice to know you wednesday, online q + a

Time again for another round of Nice To Know You Wednesday + without further ado, here are the 5 interesting questions of the day + I do hope you find them interesting enough for you to join in the fun! ^_^

  • When is the last time you swam in a pool?
  • Would you consider bungee jumping or skydiving?
  • What time is bedtime?
  • Think fast, what do you like right now?
  • What do you do for a living?

My answers:

nice to know you wednesdays, online q + a

1. The last time I swam in the pool is in May of last year, can you believe that? It feels like eons ago + I really cannot wait to dip my feet into the cool pool water again, especially now that the heat is really sweltering + scorching!

2. I  would love to do either or both of these activities soon! I think they are cool, great adventures everybody ought to try to experience in this lifetime!

3. Bedtime depends on my little boss {yup, he does know how to boss me + throw his weight around}, but when I cannot keep my eyes open any longer, I’d just bring him to our bedroom, turn off the lights + he will be off to zzzz land in no time. Sometimes, though, mum fell asleep faster that the little man! 😉

4. I like to go to the beach, drink a tall glass of green mango shake, fit into my old 2-piece again, + go to the Post Office so I can mail my postcards + claim my 3 packages! I would also love to eat breakfast, too, as my tummy just started to air its protests!

5. I am proud to say that I write to earn a living. Through posts in my blogs {slowly am finding ways to monetize them :)} + by writing articles for other people {read more about that here}, I am slowly establishing a steady stream of income. Apart from writing, I have also tried alternative ways to earn online, including doing paid surveys, but they are not really that lucrative. So yeah, I blog, + stay at home to be a full-time mum, for a living! 🙂
