of learning new skills

mum's thoughts, learning

I wrote early this year that one of my major goals for 2012 is to learn a new skill. It may be in the form of studying how to drive, or learning how to speak a third language, or finally learning how to cook, or drive or swim, or studying all about Quickbooks San Antonio, maybe! Alas, fast forward to 7 months later, I have not established a concrete goal of how to realize any of those goals I have set out to accomplish at the start of the year. I guess you can say that I have been busy. Which, for a full-time mum of a toddler can really be quite an understatement. Looking after a boisterous almost-three-year-old can really be quite a handful, add the tons of house chores + a flourishing online racket into the mix, + I hardly have enough time for anything else.  I’ve only gone as far as planning to wash my yoga mat to prepare it for action + getting hold of a great French-learning book {which I managed to browse on several occasions!}. The cliché too many things to do, too little time is a mantra that keeps running in circles inside my head!

I know I have been lagging on my goals with only a few more months left in the year, + I really keep on wondering how other mums or those Adams QB Austin Quickbooks Experts manage their time perfectly. That I have to master first, I guess, before I venture into achieving other goals that I set out for myself. Oh well, either that or I find a very capable house help to do away all my biddings so I focus on any of my tasks. At any rate, I am just glad I have found an able aid, in the form of my new fully-automatic washing  machine, to help me save time + energy so that I can focus more on my other priorities! 😉

Anyway what new skills you would like to learn? I’d love to read all about it in a comment below! 😉

  1. I’m the same as you Vix, 24 hours isn’t enough, our only difference is that I will have three kids who’ll be screaming “Mama!!” every time I’m out of their sight! Cooking + baking are some of the things I just learned on my own with the aid of cooking shows, cookbook & online recipes, asking information from people around me, AND practice, practice, practice! So maybe you could also start with that. And congrats on that auto washer! It’s my laundry savior for 8 years since I am in no way washing by hands for they’re already rough & wrinkled with all the cleaning I’m doing… 😀

    1. i can never imagine how you manage to do it all! 😀 cooking + baking are really something I’d like to ace, especially that I have such a picky eater + it is a must that I prepare not only nutritious but also aesthetically appealing dishes for him! i have to agree, a few years into motherhood has taken its toll on my hands, for some reason i always find them wet, either with washing the feeding bottles or cleaning up the little man, or heaven knows what else! 😀
