Coffee is one of my simple indulgences. The truth is, it feels like I am not fully awake until I have my mug of steaming hot coffee in the morning. This is the reason why I readily signed up to review the all new Casa de Lorenzo Coffee Dark and the Lemongrass Manila Castile Soaps. I am so excited to experience how my favorite pick-me-upper will do the same for my skin. I have tried other products from Casa de Lorenzo before {you may check out my review here} so I know that they have earth-friendly and good quality castile soaps and oils.

Casa de Lorenzo sent me a bottle each of these variants for review purposes. These liquid soaps are in amber-colored bottles, which help protect the quality of the soaps they contain. Why castile soaps, you ask? The name is from the Castile region of Spain where these Olive Oil-based soaps originated from.

More intrigued with Casa de Lorenzo’s Coffee Dark Castile Soap, I tried it the next day after receiving my package. This natural soap variant is made from organic ingredients like Olive Oil, Virgin Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, and combined with local ground coffee beans. It’s coffee scent is reminiscent of the local kapeng barako and the invigorating aroma wafts into the bathroom as I pour a small amount onto my shower puff. Mind you, these castile soaps aren’t as soapy as regular soaps as they do not contain thickening agents so you might want to put more onto your shower puff for more lather, which is what I did exactly! As expected, this castile soap variant comes in a very dark brown shade, but surprisingly it does not leave even a hint of stain on my shower puff and the dark tint washed off immediately after rinsing. The soap does not leave a long-lasting coffee scent on the skin, either.

Casa de Lorenzo Coffee Dark Castile Soap is ideal for those once-a-week pampering, relaxing and luxurious baths that are sure to be a delight to the senses.

Why I love the Coffee Dark Castile Soap?

  • I love the aroma of the kapeng barako ground beans in this bottled soap
  • It is 100% natural and 100% biodegradable
  • Even when it has a dark color it surprisingly does not leave a hint of stain on my shower puff unlike other soaps
  • The hint of ground beans in the soap which is great for gentle exfoliating of the skin
  • I love the soft and supple after feel on my skin. No need to use lotion!

What needs improvement?

  • I wish there were more fine coffee grains on the soap for better exfoliating

Casa de Lorenzo Lemongrass Manila Castile Soap

I tried the second bottle after a few days and I also enjoyed the experience. Compared to the Dark Coffee variant that has tiny coffee grain scrubs, Casa de Lorenzo Lemongrass Manila flavor is purely soap with clear color and almost-water consistency. On the contrary, a small amount can produce a generous amount of lather on the skin. The relaxing and soothing scent of lemongrass bursts into the bathroom as soon as I poured the liquid soap onto my shower puff. I also love the clean and oh-so-smooth feel on the skin after using it!

Casa de Lorenzo Lemongrass Manila is made from Rice Bran Oil, Virgin Coconut Oil, and Palm Oil. It is also scented with Lemongrass Essential Oil that came from the farmlands of Negros. This castile soap is gentle enough for everyday use and I bet, since it is all-natural, I can also use this during the little man’s bath time!

What I love about Lemongrass Manila Castile Soap?

  • The soothing scent of lemongrass
  • The smooth after-feel on the skin

  1. I have never heard of these soaps but would certainly give them a try. Thank you for the tip of adding just a little bit more to the wash cloth for a lather. The coffee scent would be a great wake up call when in the shower prior to your cup of coffee in the am.

  2. I think that the lemongrass manila would be my favorite. Sometimes when products are too floral or strong smelling, I get a head ache. The lemon scent would be so energizing…something this tired mama needs!

    1. am not sure if they have a Lemon variant, yet, but I am betting it will be one of my faves, too. I thought the Lemongrass variant is very soothing + relaxing!

  3. I love Castile soap! I bet these smell heavenly. When I lived in the States, I used Castile a lot to make my own beauty items, and I would’ve loved to have had these scents, instead of the traditional lavender, etc. Wish they’d send me some to review 😉

  7. These soaps sound so gorgeous, I especially love that they contain olive oil, it’s SO good for the skin. I’m not a fan of coffee at all so that version wouldn’t be for me but the lemongrass sounds so lovely and soothing. I’ll have to see if I can find these here in Ireland 🙂

  8. I am not familiar with this brand, though they sound like great products I am not sure I would want the coffee scent I would try lavender as that is one of my favourite scents. Thanks for sharing your review

  9. Lemongrass is such a nice scent. I actually just bought an essential oil that is lemongrass to make a sugar scrub with. I do love making my own beauty products, but I also love trying new ones like this! I need to look for these!

    1. making your own beauty products sounds like a very cool activity. i was hoping i could make my own household cleaning products but i have yet to start reading up on the subject + actually start concocting ingredients at home. i love the soothing scent of lemongrass.

  10. The first thing that caught my eye about this review was the words ‘lemongrass’ and ‘coffee’. I like products that do leave a long-lasting scent…but I think the overall scent and softness that it leaves behind would suit me nicely. I also like the scent of lemongrass. I’ve never used castile soap before.

    1. I suggest you start using castile soaps. i am sure you will enjoy the experience, plus you won’t have to worry about harmful chemicals because they are 100% natural

  11. I have to admit that I didn’t find the packaging very attractive at first, but your review has made it worth trying out. I like your little tips like using more of it because it doesn’t have that thickening agent like most soaps do. TBH this is the first time I’m reading of shampoo that smells like coffee! Maybe I’ll try it too! Thanks for sharing!

    1. thanks for the kind words. i do hope you can try these castile soaps very soon. i know you will enjoy them!

  12. I love to try those liquid soaps too. I’m a fan of body wash and I seldom use bar soap when I take a bath. I can almost smell the scent of those bottles.

    1. it smells like Kapeng Barako + has grains for exfoliating. I just wish there’re more grains, though.

  13. First time to hear about a coffee scented soap and now I’m curious haha 🙂 But I like lemongrass scent it keeps me calm ^^

  16. This is the first time I heard of castille soap. I rarely scout for cosmetic items kaya everything is new to me 🙂 But this sounds interesting and I would love to try it too 🙂

    1. i also seldom look for cosmetic items. i discover this product when i won a giveaway last year, i think, + got a couple of these castile soaps as prize. i loved it + has ordered a few times from them since then. i hope you will get to try these soon, I assure you you will not regret it! 🙂

  17. You know what? A few days after first reading this, I was given a DIY kit on making coffee soap. We’ll see how it goes but I hope it will be as good as this castile soap here.

    1. what a coincidence! i have yet to try DIY soap making but I am betting it’d be great. let me know how your coffee soap goes, ayt?

    1. i do hope you can try them out real soon. long baths are a luxury to me since i have a 5-year old who’d get fidgety when I am out of his sight even for just a few minutes. so i make sure to time my baths when he’s asleep, preoccupied, or has someone else to look after him! 😉

  18. I also love grain on soap. It feels good to remove those unwanted layers and psychologically, the grains create a feeling of exfoliating. Haha well, they do exfoliate naman. 🙂 would live to try this one. Looks interesting. Tried strawberry shower gel before and the aroma was really refreshing. I wonder how this one would feel. 🙂
