Modern-day Filipino lifestyle can take its toll on our eye health. People, young kids included, who spend many hours in front of the computer, the tellie, or a handheld gadget are prone to suffer from dry and itchy eyes. While those who are exposed to dirt and pollutants due to daily commute are more likely to suffer from a number of “eyeritation.”

What are the 5 signs of eyeritation?

  1. Red Eyes ~ a condition usually caused by allergy, dirt, smoke, pollution, or common eye infections which are the most common among people who are highly exposed to outdoor activities like motorcycle rider and commuters.
  2. Watery Eyes ~ excessive tearing not caused by normal crying may very well be a sign of an underlying health condition. When too many tears are being secreted, it is often because of irritation or inflammation of the surface of the eye that can be caused by external elements as well.
  3. Sore Eyes ~ is usually caused by staring into a computer screen or a book for too long.
  4. Itchy Eyes ~ are often caused by allergies. It can also occur when there is constant exposure to household elements like mold and dust. Rubbing the itchy eyes, even when you cannot resist the urge at times, won’t help.
  5. Dry Eyes ~ this is common to people who have high exposure to gadget, tellie, laptops, as well as those working in air-conditioned rooms. Lack of tears or moisture in the eyes is also common as we age.

Like other parts of your body, you should take care of your eyes. If you don’t take proper eye care, it can result to many eye diseases. – Earl Jayona, Marketing Manager for Eye Mo, LF Asia Philippines, Inc., Healthcare Division

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to best use Eye Mo to relieve the 5 signs of eye irritation

  1. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling.
  2. Pull down the lower lid of your eye with your index finger to form a pocket.
  3. Hold the dropper {tip facing down} with the other hand, as close to the eye as possible without touching it.
  4. Brace the remaining fingers of that hand against your face to help prevent tip from touching your eye.
  5. While looking up, gently squeeze the dropper so that a single drop falls into the pocket made by the lower eyelid.
  6. Remove your index finger from the lower eyelid and close your eyes.
  7. Close your eye for 2-3 minutes and tip your head down as though looking at the floor. Try not to blink or squeeze your eyelids.
  8. Place a finger on a tear duct and apply gentle pressure.
  9. Wipe any excess liquid from your face with a tissue.
  10. If you are to use more than one drop in the same eye, wait at least 5 minutes before instilling the next drop.

  1. I am lucky to almost never suffer with me eyes but it’s good to know that there are products for people who get allergic reactions from excess dust and pollution in the air. Our eyes are one of the most important parts of our bodies and we need to keep them healthy for as long as possible. Red eyes might not be painful but they might be the signs of the start of a conjuctivitus for example, and it’s always better to prevent than to treat.

From then on, i never use EyeMo every again. 🙁 But its a good product though.

  3. I have been experiencing eye irritations lately. This is due to late night sleeping, and early rising in the morning. I really should not abuse my eyes. 1. Yes, staying up late and lack of sleep are potential dangers to our peepers. I had a friend in College who experienced temporary blindness because of these. It is a must that you take care of your eyes while your young. My grade shoot up to 150 this year and I find wearing specs quite troublesome at some point. I miss my 20/20 vision.

  4. Eye Mo has been around since I was kid–and that has been almost a coupla decades ago already. Haha. I sorta remember their commercials as well. I even remember using them for a time or so. They must have stellar products for them to last this long. 🙂 Sitting in front of the computer all day, I think I need these eye drops every now and then.

    1. Yes, it was a well-known brand back in the days. It is good that they are making a come back this year. It is true, those of us who are exposed to screen and monitors for long hours a day need this product to soothe our tired and dry eyes.

  5. This article is perfect especially in our place where summer has begun and sore eye is in “season.” I am not sure if Eye-mo can cure sore eyes. But based on my experience, it somehow relieves the discomfort sore eyes give. Hubby has had sore eyes the past week and I gave him Eye-mo as first aid.

  6. With the state of how hot it is in the country right now, we really need to stay hydrated. Even our eyes. I personally love it when the Eyemo I use comes fresh from the fridge because it’s cooling and soothing to the eyes.

I love that they have 2 different formulas now though. I am only familiar with the blue one. <3 <3 <3

  7. With the rising level of pollution in city eye irritations are on the rise. This product does seem helpful from your review. All I do is splash cold water. I will check out for this in stores.

  8. Eye mo is the go-to eye medicine back when I was a kid. I really noticed that they were missing in action in drugstores in the country. Now, I’m using what my the prescribed. Soon after it’s empty, I will be buying Eye mo again. For what reasons? Well, just in case I need them again. They’re one of the best!

  9. I find this post very interesting as I rarely read a blog post like this. Yes, truly just like any other part of our body, our eyes is very important as well. I didn’t know about all these things and you have just reminded me that our eyes should be properly cared as well. I’ll surely bear this product in mind for a future reference cause we really can’t tell when would we suffer from eyeritation. This is actually a new learning for me. Thank you so much for sharing!

  10. Yes, Eye Mo has been one of the many household products before. I admit, I only use this whenever I have problems with my eyes. NNow, with all the pollution around our country, I think it’s best to use this to soothe our eyes even if we don’t have any eye problem. Good to see this product back.
