An active lifestyle can be a great way to improve your mood, making you feel happier and more energized. If you’re just finding your groove in working out, there are exciting ways to get your steps in. You can even make the experience more amazing by capping it off with a multigrain snack such as Jack ‘n Jill Nova.

Whether you’re a casual or experienced mover, you can start with these five activities at home:

Signing up for a dance or Zumba class can be daunting at first, especially if you’re doing it alone. Once you get past the nerves, you’ll learn to just follow the beat and move to your own rhythm. If you don’t want to join a class, no problem. You can always put on your favorite playlist or follow a dance workout video online in the comfort of your own home.

Recently, Jack ‘n Jill Nova hosted NOVAmazing Moves, a series of pop-up events that aims to make movement fun and accessible for everyone through various activities. The multi-gain snack brand aims to support people’s active lifestyles, encouraging them to move with no pressure.

Another fun activity that feels like play is hula hooping. This can be a great option if you want to improve your coordination and strengthen your core without the heavy lifting. It can also be a fun bonding activity with the kids in your household.

Mum Shares: Ginhawa Sa Kalusugan Ngayong Tag-ulan – Be Ready For The Rainy Season With These Essentials

As the refreshing rains replace the scorching summer heat, a season shift brings both relief and health challenges. While the rain offers a welcome respite, it also ushers in health concerns that become more prominent during this time.

The shift in seasons usually affects me because this used to be the season when my not-so-little man would experience asthma attacks and it really was quite a chalenge for a busy mum like me. Caring for a sick child can also take its toll on a mum, so I need to be extra careful so I won’t get sick, too. And as we continue to experience rainy days, it’s helpful to have these essentials to stay healthy, snug, and comfortable during the downpour:

Umbrella: Stay-dry comfort

Of course, number one on the list is an umbrella. If I would look at the bags of most Filipinos, I’ll most likely find an umbrella. It’s like a trusty sidekick in the crazy weather rollercoaster we experience daily. One minute, we’re under the scorching heat, and the next, we could be caught in a downpour with gusty winds. Having an umbrella on hand keeps me prepared for whatever weather surprise comes my way.

Tea: A cup of warmth

There’s nothing quite like wrapping my hands around a warm mug of tea as the rain taps against the windowpane. The soothing warmth of tea instantly makes me feel snug and content, making it the ultimate comfort drink for gloomy weather. I always choose a selection of soothing herbal teas such as chamomile, lavender, or ginger, which not only provide warmth but also have calming and digestive properties.

Sometimes, I add some honey or lemon for an extra touch of sweetness and flavor!

Children: Lice-free Playdays ~ Here are Tips to Make Your Child’s Hair Kuto-Free and Smell Nice!

Play is an important aspect of a child’s life. Whether it’s tumbang preso, luksong tinik, hide-and-seek, or playing house, it’s undeniable that kids just love to play. And it’s even better when they play outdoors!

No matter the weather, playing outside is good for kids. It is an opportunity for them to embark on various adventures, spend quality time with friends, and create the most cherished, fondest childhood memories. Aside from its fun and stress-relieving benefits, playing outdoors is also a way for them to think creatively, interact socially, develop physically, and connect with the environment.  In other words, outdoor play is a way for children to learn.

However, being exposed outdoors also poses harm to our children. In a study conducted by the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society of the Philippines, over 54.7% of the population of primary school children are infested by head lice, or kuto ~ a tiny parasite that feeds off human blood from the scalp of its host, which renders no benefit but rather pure discomfort, irritability, hassle, and other more serious conditions such as skin infection.

With the goal to continuously raise awareness on head lice infestation issues and promote prevention, Lamoiyan Corporation, maker of Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo shares tips and hacks to equip moms on how to achieve  kuto-free playdays with their kids!

Minimize Head-to-Head Contact

Head lice do not fly, hop, or jump from one head to another. In fact, their only mode of transmission is through head-to-head contact and the sharing of personal hair accessories according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention {CDC}. During playtime, children may naturally put their heads together, and a good way to minimize these interactions is to put long hair in a ponytail or braid. A small amount of hair spray can also help contain stray hairs. Children can also be taught the importance of privacy and ownership of personal belongings to maintain good hygiene. The best approach to instilling habits in children is to help them understand the underlying reasons ~ making it more likely they will follow through and eventually adopt the habits as their own.
