of costumes + halloweens

parenting 101, Jared's nook, mum's thoughts
I know that Halloween is not due until the last week of October, but I just thought it would be best to scout for a great costume for the little man this early, plus am also contemplating on having him wear a Lightning McQueen costume on his 3rd birthday celebration. I reckon nothing beats an early bird, plus it allows more time for Jared to give his costume a try so that he will be all set by the time he needs to wear them. Not to mention, costumes cost a lot cheaper now compared to a few months later when the Halloween fever sets in.
If truth be told, I wasn’t really that encouraged to get a costume for my little tot when he was younger. I remember he’d fuss over a head piece when we went to look around for a Halloween costume last year. In the end, I dressed him in plain clothes since he really refused to try anything out! Maybe he is still a bit younger + all the hoopla is just too much for him-.
This year, though, I thought since he’s getting really bigger + more mature, I think he’d be more open to try a costume out. Especially if I can find him something like that one on the photo.  He absolutely adores anything Lightning McQueen + I reckon it will be much easier to convince him to try a costume like this! I’ve found it on Spirithalloween.com, by the way. They have a got a lot of interesting Cars costumes in their collection, as well as numerous costume ideas for women! Who knows, maybe I can also find one for myself + we’d go on matching costumes to celebrate Halloween later this year. Oh well, all I need now is some fund on my Paypal account so I buy this one + my little man will be all set! 😉

the little man turns another month older!

motherhood, Jared, Jared's nook, milestones

That is right! My little tot just turned 34 months today + we shall be celebrating his 3rd birthday in 2 months time! At this age, he can now recognize + read all the letters of the alphabet, as well as all the numbers. He can also name a number of things that begins with the letters. Much thanks to all those long hours spent watching TUTITU + the likes! He can also recognize most shapes, but is hard up on pronouncing most of the difficult ones ~ especially rectangle, octagon + hexagon {which made me wonder why they even have to give those shapes the most complicated names in the first place!}. I noticed that he is now also more keen + receptive whenever I teach him something. The other day I was teaching him about body parts + he willingly repeated after me + can tell the elbow from his shoulder after a few tries!

I also noticed that Jared’s imagination has been quite active lately. I caught him talking {to himself or to an imaginary friend, I guess} + sheepishly smiled at me when he noticed I was there. He would also be quick to mention that the little man he saw on the tellie was “Jai-jai” {that is how he pronounced his name} + the mum was me or the dad was his dad! He would also point to the sky often + tell me that Spiderman or Captain America or Iron Man is somewhere out there!

He is also more sensitive of other people’s feelings now + would be quick to say sorry or kiss or hug someone whenever he felt like he did something wrong. Also, he would now listen, at least most times, whenever he is told to do something.  I guess it cannot be denied that my little man is now growing! Before I know it he will be the one to choose his clothes + shoes for himself!

I guess I have said this too many times before that may he not grow too fast, but maybe it really is inevitable. Oh well, how about changing it to simply grow to be the person you ought to be + I will never be a happier mum!  Happy 34th month, my little one, thank you for all the wonderful + beautiful things you brought into my life, not to mention the millions of hugs + kisses! Mum will love you always, no matter what!

joining the blog photo challenge for the first time #1/366

blog photo challenge, Jared, green

I have been wanting to join the Blog Photo Challenge but have not found the time to do it. Now, after 5 months is done, I finally managed to set aside a portion of my online time to make a post for it, just in time for the new month! Oh well, here is hoping I’d be able to sustain this. I have been lagging online lately + is at a lost looking for my muse. This is an attempt to recapture the blogging mojo + hopefully get back to spewing those post + articles on time! I know I can only make so many excuses, but since me + the little man had fallen ill, my blogs have been relegated to the sidelines clamoring for my attention. Hopefully, as I start to feel healthy again I’d be able to finish all the backlogs + post each of the articles I have been meaning to post in the first place.

Anyhoo, my first BPC entry is this photo I took during one of those days that me + the little man happily roam around the resort while waiting for his swimming class to start. This well-manicured lawn is where they do their pre-swimming stretching + my little one enjoys walking + treading across the green path. I shall share more photos of his swimming adventure soon. 🙂
