On to one of my favorite parts of the blog. Mum Finds is where I’d share all about my latest discoveries, new-found favorite products and services for children, and everything else that falls into the category. Mostly, I share interesting stuff that I chanced upon my local grocers or interesting items I stumble though online while I tinker away on my computer. Today, I will share all about the new bento stuff I got recently. I ordered them online from a bento-loving mum who found a way to turn her passion into an earning opportunity.
I have always been fascinated with those awesome bentos and aspired to create lovely food arts, too, when my little man is more up to eating solids aside from his usual pancit canton from Chowking. That is the reason why I keep my eyes open for interesting items that I might be able to use once I am up and ready to start my bento journey. By the way, I’ve attended a bento workshop last quarter of 2013 but have not been able to share it here yet. It was really inspiring and I really aspire to create those fun and healthy baon boxes for the little man once he goes to school.
I got these cute picks late last year, too. I thought the abc’s would pique the little man’s attention, while the Cars’ sandwich press are just too adorable not to notice. Jared is a huge fan of Lightning McQueen and the gang that is why I know he will like these. In fact, he was too excited to play with them when they arrived home, probably thinking they were another batch of Cars’ toys for him to play.
Am not that crafty and am not that creative either, but am sure I can think of a number of ways to use these picks to make the food I serve for my little man look even more interesting. I sure hope his appetite will follow soon. By the way, I got these pieces from a friend I met at the bento workshop I mentioned. The Cars’ sandwich plunger are at Php200 per set, while the ABC picks sell at Php25 per set of three.
We went to Robinson’s Place last Friday after the little man’s playschool class. We ordered his fave food from Chowking for takeaway as we planned to eat at home. After queuing for a few minutes and waiting for our orders to arrived, we ventured to the mall’s second floor to check out Daiso. We’ve only been to the mall for a couple of times and we have not been able to check out this shop. I know I aimed to be more frugal this year so I am actually avoiding to frequent places when I know I will end up spending $$$ and I have been successful so far. I have not bought anything unplanned or out of my shopping list for almost a month now and I guess it is time to reward myself with a little something for the effort!
True enough, while browsing through the racks of displays in Daiso, I chanced upon these very cute animal food picks which I have been wanting to have since last year. I quickly got a pack as it will be a great addition to my bento stash that I plan to put to good use once the little man goes to big school this coming school year. I have been eyeing to get this set as Jared really loves animals and I am sure he will enjoy using these picks. A pack of 10 picks, in lovely animal designs like giraffe, zebra, panda amongst others, sells for Php88.
Daiso is a treasure trove of really cute stuff that is why a trip to this place at any given time is such a treat. They also have lovely Hello Kitty and Twin Stars items, as well as beautiful jars in interesting designs. As for me, I am getting the kawaii lunchboxes next time.
