Organizing At Home

When you live with a toddler, you can only do so much to organize and tidy up. Things, like toys, books, crayons and other art supplies, seem to crawl their way back to the places where you just pick them up from and it is hard to keep the place spic ‘n span, even just for a whole 30 minutes! Most times I just let them be and leave my little man to his own device, but other times, when the “OC mum” kicked in, I simply cannot ignore the clutter and I will suddenly have the urge to clean up even when the little man is still up to making a dump out of the living room. On most occasions, Jared will be cooperative and will make sure to return his stuff to their original containers, but there are also other times when he is just being himself, a toddler!

I guess I have to give up on the  little man’s things for the time being until I finally manage to get him a separate closet for all this belongings, so they won’t end up cluttering our already cramped living room. I am thinking of getting one of those tool cabinets where I can stash his toys, books and school supplies in a very organized manner. I bet it will be easier for the little man to tidy up every playtime since he will have a more spacious rack for all his knickknacks. I will  make sure to have a separate nook for his growing die-cast cars collection, too.

Closets and cabinets work wonders in organizing at home. Racks can very well do the trick, too. Take for example this shoe rack we bought last year to help us organize all our shoes and footwear. I got it from this groupon site who was having a promo at the time, now we have a the perfect place to put all our shoes in. Hopefully I will be able to do the same for the little man’s toys, as well as the other areas of our little home soon.

Do you have any tips + tricks on organizing at home? I’d love to hear about it. 🙂

My Reliable Helper, Fuzzy

home, home chores, home appliances

Nope, I did not hire a house help recently, I couldn’t even afford one being a stay-at-home mum and all! I am actually referring to my ever-reliable automatic washing machine, which has been nothing but a sweetheart since day one. Choosing from  different washing machine brands and models from a local appliance center and opting for Fuzzy is actually one of the best decisions we made last year! I’ve been using it for more than half-a-year already and I’ve got no complaints. And yes, you just read that right, my washer has a name! 🙂

Since Fuzzy came, doing the laundry has been nothing but easy-breezy. No more endless hours of hand-washing and back-breaking tedious manual labor. Now I can do my laundry in 3 easy steps: load up my laundry, put the desired amount of powder detergent and sit back! My fresh, clean and good-smelling laundry comes out ready to be air-dried after 40 minutes or depending on how long I prompted Fuzzy to wash them. Even when I still have to check on the water supply on occasions, since Fuzzy is inconveniently located in one corner of my diminutive kitchen, which makes the process semi-automatic, I have no complaints. Turning the faucet on and off is definitely quite a cheerful job if I think of the mountain of clothes that I do not have to manually wash anymore! 🙂

Doing the laundry with just a press of a button is really one of the best gifts I have received. Now I have more time for more important things like sitting beside my little man as he watched his favorite cartoons or heading out to spend more time outdoors. If you are still trapped in the manual-laundry prison or still require another hand to do it for you, therefore shelling out money every time you need laundry to be done, I suggest you check out this wide selection of washing machines and get one for yourself. You and your family will thank you for it. Besides, for homemakers like  us, a washing machine is really one good investment!

Cleaning Up After the Holidays

Blog Photo Challenge, #fmsphotoaday, home, home chores

It has been more than a week since we bid goodbye to 2012 and to all the hoopla that Christmas and the New Year celebrations bring. It is now time to clean up and tidy up after the holidays and don’t you just find that rather tiring? Blame it on the weather or on the fact that I’m back to my old routine of burning the midnight oil to update my blogs that I am rather sluggish and lazy when the morning comes.

I have not done much of tidying up lately. In fact the tree is still up and I am just asking the little man for permission to put it and all its accoutrements away. Of course all the gifts under the tree has long been opened and used, save for these two lonely packages whose recipients failed to pay us a visit for the holidays. Am going to have to put those away, too, maybe safe keep it so that I can give it to my godchild the next time I see him or find other use for it somehow.

I know am going to have to muster enough enthusiasm to box the Christmas tree and its trimmings sooner than later. I intend to use them for a longer period of time, so storing them properly is of utmost importance. I will put the balls, the lights and the flower decorations in separate boxes before I seal it away in a big brown box.

Anyway, I have managed to snap a photo of our tree, including some of the gifts under it  just before they went to their respective owners and I am sharing that with you today. The Girbaud and Sanuk gift bags are mine, gifted by Jared’s dad on our anniversary! ^_^

How about you are you done cleaning up after the holidays?

My 6th share for this month’s Blog Photo Challenge and for #fmsphotoaday.
