Join The Philippine Homeschool Conference 2017: Educating For The World Of Tomorrow

I have always considered homeschooling my little man and I am not closing my doors in exploring this option in the near future. This is the reason why I support the Homeschool Association of the Philippine Islands {HAPI}’s Philippine Homeschool Conference 2017.

Here’s what you need to know about the Philippines Homeschool Conference 2017

The Philippines Homeschool Conference, the most anticipated gathering of homeschoolers in the Philippines, is an annual gathering full of information and inspiration for people who want to learn more about homeschooling, are just starting out, or want to improve their homeschooling experience. The conference ~ specifically by way of its Expo ~ is also a venue where homeschoolers {and even non-homeschoolers!} can look at and purchase materials, plus get to know more about services and programs that may aid them in their homeschooling.

The Philippines Homeschool Conference is a great venue for homeschooling mums to learn the ins and outs of homeschooling, challenges, and how to deal with them, as well as discover the technical aspects of homeschooling. It is also the perfect venue for first-time homeschoolers to learn more about the subject and decide how to apply this on their own journey.

The expo also a great opportunity for homeschooling mums to converge and swap homeschooling stories, as well as shop for homeschool materials, books, books, and more!

The PHC 2017: Homeschool to the Future

This year, HAPI, with Educating for Life as the Conference organizer, is setting up the PHC to be an event that will inspire and equip parents to “homeschool to the future.”

The world we live in has changed drastically over the past few years, everything is fast-paced and almost instant. these days. With the advent of the Internet Age, information is literally available with a press of a button. With these changes, the educational sphere has also changed a lot. Educators are beginning to realize that beyond rote memorization and spewing out of data, students today must learn what to do with the information that they have.

The more valuable skills to be learned are critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving – skills that homeschoolers can embrace and promote in their homes. Children are taught to learn how to learn – and love how to learn – as they make use of the technology and resources available to them.

This is the inspiration behind the theme of this year’s Philippine Homeschool Conference: “Homeschool to the Future: Educating for the World of Tomorrow.” As in previous years, the conference aims to encourage and equip homeschooling families in their journey through practical breakout sessions, the expo filled with educational materials, and by providing a venue where homeschoolers can meet and gather as a community.

The PHC 2017 will be held from 7 a.m. {start of registration} to 6PM on 07 October, 2017 at Treston International College in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

Our Experience At PAP’s First Ever Mom + Baby Expo

parenting expo, events, parenting fairs, mummy events, mum + kids events, parenting 101

We have attended less and less of these mum and baby expos as the little man gets bigger. The first ever Mom and Baby Expo by the Perinatal Association of the Philippines {PAP} was an exception, though. Since I wrote about the expo earlier this year, naturally, I would love to check it out. And since I was in SM Megamall that very same weekend, I went and checked the event out with my little one and my sis, Bel.

Entrance to the expo was Php50 and the kids get in for free. Inside, there are a host of different booths, as well as a number of talks and activities lined-up through out the day. The expo ran from 21-23 April where mums and mums-to-be, along with their toddlers and families were treated to an exhibit that showcased different facets of comprehensive perinatal healthcare such as products, services, technology and new methods, all of which were designed to aid Filipina mothers and their babies.

Educational talks from PAP experts are just one of the highlights of the very first Mom And Baby Expo

Organized by the Perinatal Association of the Philippines (PAP), the expo featured not only booths of trusted mum and baby brands like Pigeon, Enfamama, Unilab, Messy Bessy, Safety 1st, and Tiny Buds {our personal fave}, but also a series of talks of medical experts belonging to the PAP which delved into a whole range of topics pertaining to maternal-fetal and newborn topics. Among the topics that drew huge crowds were tips on how to get pregnant; vaccines needed for expecting moms as well as their babies; preconception tests;  macro and micronutrient needs for moms; Sayuntis- exercise during pregnancy; and  skin care for mom and baby.

Perinatal Association Of The Philippines’ Mom & Baby Expo 2017

Pregnancy and being a mum for the first time are both exciting stages in a woman’s life but they can be the most trying and terrifying, too, especially if you have no idea of the challenges that lies prior and ahead of pregnancy. Back in the day, I was overly excited to welcome my little bundle of joy but I was also filled with apprehension as to whether I will be a good mum or if I will be able to care for him the way a mum should. The floods of worry is enough to get a good woman down and not having my Mama {as she has passed on two years before my pregnancy} around did not help. I relied mainly on maternal instincts, the dozen or so pregnant mums that I had the fortune to share the experience with, as well as the online parenting forum I frequent then for tips and trips concerning motherhood.

It is so much easier to be pregnant and be a mum these days given the many resources available online, not to mention the many trade fairs and expos dedicated to motherhood and parenting. In fact, another expo is coming this April ~ the very first Mom & Baby Expo!

The Mom & Baby Expo 2017

Organized by the Perinatal Association of the Philippines {PAP}, together with its trusted affiliates, the Mom & Baby Expo is slated on 21-23 April, 2017 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Halls 2 and 3. Opening ceremonies for the Expo is scheduled at 10Am of 21 April followed by a press conference. It will be open to the public by 2pm onwards until 10pm. Entrance is only Php50!

PAP President Dra. Belen Velasco enthused that the objective of the expo is “simple yet powerful; to impart advices and traverse new ideas moms and expectant moms can use that will ultimately strengthen their maternal bond with their babies. This is very exciting because this something big, something we have envisioned to happen for the longest time. And now, finally, we are doing it.”

What sets this expo apart from its previous contemporaries is that this time it will be organized by the experts themselves, who are passionate and have decades of proven and justified experience in their fields of expertise, and know everything there is to know about perinatal care. Past PAP President Dr. Diosdado Mariano shares that “the Expo is an opportunity to analyze and seek solutions to existing issues pertaining too maternal-fetal and newborn areas in an engaging and fun way.”
