tuesday travels: my favorite beach

the beautiful me sunset

For this week’s Tuesday Travels, we are to write about our favorite beach destination. I have only been gone to the beach a few times in my life, the first time was when I was just 6, I think,. I went to Matabungkay Beach with my sis, Bel, + my Papa, + I must say I really love the beach + if given the chance I’d love to settle somewhere near, so I can be close to the surf, the sun, the sand + the good vibe the ocean water brings.

the lovely ocean

My favorite beach destination will have to be the Coco Beach (see my other posts about it here + here). I just love the place, the greens, the beach, the food + just about everything about it! I went there in 2007 with my teammates (it was part of our incentives for being team of the year), it was also the first time I have even been to the beach in long while + I simply love the experience!

If given the chance I’d love to visit that place again with my family. I know my son will totally love it there, he simply loves the waters ;D

tuesday travels: my favorite place to hang out

Our favorite place to hang out would have to be the mall. There are several SM Mall branches that we visit alternately: SM San Fernando in Pampanga, SM Baliuag + SM Marilao. We used to frequent the last branch but since traffic is just impossible going to that place, we sort of avoided it altogether + would just choose between the other two branches. Or sometimes, we’d venture even farther + visit Trinoma or SM North EDSA.

Jared + dad goofing around at the food court

The malls, I guess are shoe in, since you will just about find anything you might be needing in a single visit. Here’s what we’d normally have in our itinerary when we visit the mall:

  • do my groceries
  • buy Jared’s milk + diapers, wipes + laundry detergent
  • visit the bookstore (definitely one my most favorite shops :))
  • hunt for a place to eat (of course, this one is a staple in every itinerary!)
  • have a haircut on some occasions (+ when it’s Jared who needs a haircut, we’d go straight to Trinoma!)
  • do not forget to make a quickstop to ride the elevator (my little man loves it :D)

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Do share it with us here:

welcome to malolos city, my town!

Malolo City

Our town, Malolos, is just 45 kilometers north of Manila + you will be here in less than an hour coming from Trinoma.  It was also the capital of the province of Bulacan + became a city in 2002. It is considered the 115th city in the country + is just 30 minutes (I am guessing here, you know how I am with numbers!) away from Pampanga.

Malolos City, Barasoain Church

We are most famous for the historical Barasoain Church (a photo of which I sent out to my postcrossing friends a few months back), which played a very significant role in our country’s history +  the sinful decadent, Inipit (a type of pastry).

Other significant landmarks in our city includes the Kalayaan Tree, situated in front of the Malolos Cathedral + The Immaculate Conception School for Boys, Barasoain Museum, Museo ng Bulacan, the Casa Real Shrine + a host of most of the provincial government offices along with the Provincial Capitol office + ground.

If you visit, especially during the summer, you might want to try swimming in one of our resorts. You can choose between DJ Paradise Resort + Malolos Club Royale, or try out the other ones too! You might also want to visit Cabanas Mall or stroll in the Bulacan State University Campus or the provincial park.

I also recommend you try riding our very own mode of transportation, the Karatig, this is a modified owner-type passenger utility vehicle which is shorter than your normal Jeepney, it is only a 10-seater but coasts the main thoroughfares in the city + will bring you anywhere you want to go around town.

Shame I don’t have personal photos to share, maybe I should go around my town + take those snapshots!  Those snapshots will make good material for personalized postcards! Who’s with me? 😉
