Christmas season is indeed the most wonderful time of the year. From exciting last-minute shopping sprees to multiple parties and get-together, we really can’t deny that the holidays have finally arrived. But, along with the infectious merriment the holidays bring, there is no denying that all the stress the holiday season brings can absolutely take a toll on our skin, with all the late-night partying, non-stop eating, and horrendous traffic we all have to contend with.

So how do we deal with these skin SOS and still be as glowing and youthful during the holidays?

Always Keep Hydrated

The holidays are the perfect excuse to indulge in booze and stay late at night especially with all the Christmas get-togethers you need to attend. But keep in mind that too much alcohol and less sleep can take a toll on the appearance of your skin.

“Skin care addresses two concerns: wellness and aesthetics or our sense of being attractive, that’s why we do have to take care of our skin and not take it for granted most especially during the holidays which can be really stressful,” emphasizes Dr. Lalaine Salazar, Medical Director of the SvelT’i Health and Beauty Centre in Timog Avenue, Quezon City.

Drinking lots of water can help keep your skin hydrated but there are also other ways of doing so.

Purify And Nourish

No matter how late you come home from a night of drinking and partying, never forget to rid your face first off all the make-up you wore and end your day with nourishing your skin. The thorough cleansing and washing away of make-up before sleeping is also an important part of skin care. To cap the skin care regimen, Dr.Salazar recommends a cleanser that can prevent the onset of pores, blemishes, and acne; it will also improve skin tone and heal any skin inflammation.

After washing your face to get all the make-up gunk off, apply a proper facial serum that provides anti-aging effects accelerated by the climate, stress, and even genetics.

“It makes you look youthful and energetic. Our stem cell ampoule also reduces the appearances of fine lines and wrinkles, improves the skin tone, and softens the skin as well.” Says Dr.Salazar.

Relieve Dry Skin With Jergens® Hydrating Coconut Lotion

Applying lotion is one of my favorite simple treats. Not only does it relieve my skin of dryness, it is also a relaxing exercise especially after a long, tiring day. I simply enjoy applying lotion on my skin, especially on the soles of my feet, which tends to dry up because of wearing flip flops all the time!

It has been awhile since I last used Jergens, that is why I was delighted to receive a sample of their latest variant not too long ago. I was excited to try the new Jergens Hydrating Coconut.

Coconut Water and coconut oil are all the rave these days and it was rather timely that Jergens came up with their very own lotion in this variant. Coconut water is known to be rich in minerals and is considered a much better alternative than water, while Coconut Oil, on the other hand, is a natural oil that has an effective moisturizing effects to the skin. Jergens Hydrating Coconut also has Hydralucence blend, a technology that creates 2 layers of moisture on the skin allowing light to bounce off and give the skin luminosity.

I almost always apply lotion at night before bed so I have yet to see the luminosity effects of Jergens Hydrating Coconut lotion, however, I absolutely love its moisturizing effect on my skin. It leaves my skin smooth and supple, especially in the morning when I wake up. I particularly love how it smoothens out the rough spots on my soles, leaving my feet moisturized and smooth!  The sweet coconut scent is also very appealing. This variant is available in 250ml and 650ml bottles.

Myra VitaSmooth Facial Wash

This is a moisturizing facial wash enriched with antioxidant Vitamin E beads to protect and nourish the skin and help keep it healthy with a youthful glow. It also has a Moisture Plus formula to help retain and seal in skin’s natural moisture and keep it more supple and hydrated. Apart from those, it also contains French Spring Sea Water and Aloe Vera Extract to improve skin elasticity and keep it smooth and young-looking. SRP of a 50ml tube is Php70.00 and this is highly recommended for use especially during the cold December days when the skin tend to be rough and dry.

Myra VitaWhite Facial Wash

This whitening facial wash has Biowhite Complex derived from plant extracts that gently whitens skin. It has Niacinamide that helps even out skin tone by reducing red blotches making the skin more radiant. It is also enriched with Vitamin E beads to protect and nourish the skin. SRP of a 50ml tube is Php75.00 and I recommend this facial wash for those with blemishes and uneven skin tone.

I have only tried both products twice and I love them based on my initial experience. I love the subtle scent and the squeaky-clean after-feel. Myra VitaWhite Facial Wash has a thicker consistency compared to Myra VitaSmooth and it tends to be more lathery. Both washes make the skin supple and smoother after each use. Currently, I am trying VitaSmooth in the morning and VitaWhite at night.

I love that Myra Facial Wash variants are very affordable and economical, too, as you only need to put a small amount to cover the entire face and neck. I also love that they are made by one of my most trusted brands, Unilab, and that they are hypo-allergenic and dermatologist-tested to be safe for everyday use! I thought they would also make for perfect stocking fillers for my gal friend and for the little man’s teachers this Christmas!
