Puppets fascinate not only the kids but also the kids-at-heart, and if you are looking for something new and exciting to do with the kids this summer then read on to know more about PETA’s Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones puppetry performance!

For its annual family event, the PETA Theater Center transforms into a children’s play house. It is the perfect place to take your kids for a fun, extraordinary and memorable bonding experience. This year is extra special because PETA partners with Bunk Puppets to bring to Manila the internationally awarded shadow puppetry performance Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones all the way from Melbourne, Australia!

A creative family bonding experience comes to the PETA Theater Center all the way from Australia!

Sneaky chickens, flying ninjas, brain surgery and an unforgettable horse race! Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones takes the audience into a surreal world of puppets and adventure.

Using household objects and bits of rubbish, Bunk Puppets transforms simple objects into hilarious silhouette stories. In each scene, the puppetry is performed in front of the shadow screen, so that the audience gets a close look at the visual trickery. Old toys, brooms, boxes and discarded clothing are deftly stitched together to create shadow puppet stories and characters.

Delighting audiences in dozens of countries, Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones is a hilarious fusion of shadow puppetry and physical theatre. It’s a visual feast for the imagination! Come, experience one man’s playful vision of wonder and nonsense. Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones is a 50-minute non-verbal puppet comedy show for all ages. Some bits are a wee bit scary for under 6 years old, so we highly recommend that they are accompanied by their parents.

Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones comes to the Philippines this May! Shows are scheduled at May 3 {2pm}, 4 {2pm}, 5 {2pm}, 6 {1:30pm, 4pm} and 7 {1:30pm, 4pm}. To complete this rare experience, there will also be a series of puppetry workshops for kids and adults alike facilitated by the founders of Bunk Puppets on May 4 and 5, 6pm {Advanced Puppetry Workshop for Adults} and May 6 and 7, 10am, {Parent-Child Puppetry Workshop}.

Whether you want to make up for the days you were too busy or simply cap off the summer on a good note, there’s still activities available for you and your kids to enjoy. Break free from the usual trips to the mall and try these five activities instead.

Watch a theater show

In a world of video streaming and smartphones, it is rare to see children not glued to their gadgets. Introduce them to other forms of entertainment like live theater. Just make sure that you choose a show that is child-friendly. Look for youthful and energetic productions that also teach golden values through the story. A good example of this is PETA’s MgaKuwento Ni Lola Basyang! The play is like a fairytale book that has come to life as Lola Basyang shares stories of magical spells, kings and their kingdoms. Join a workshop

Join The 1st TropicalSwells SurfCamp!

Summer is finally here and if you’ve ran out of exciting and fun activities for the little ones to try this year, then you are in the right place as I share all about surfing and TropicalSwells! Surfing is something I absolutely want for the little man and myself to try {now I really have to work on my swimming skills!}, so I truly find it exciting that someone is now offering a surf camp up north. Read on to know more about them and be ready for an awesome summer experience with your family!

Surf’s Up with TropicalSwells

TropicalSwells, a Philippine surf school that offers a fun and safe surf experience for beginners, avid enthusiasts and all interested members of your family, is holding an intensive SurfCamp that starts at a wave pool in Subic and graduates you on the open. The intensive SurfCamp will be a 3-days, 2-nights surf trip on April 29, 2016 to May 1, 2016, teaching you the basics of surfing while arming you with courage and confidence, allowing you to experience being and feeling stoked, and preparing you for surfing ocean waves. At the end of the intensive SurfCamp, each participant will receive a certification of completion from TropicalSwells.

The 1st TropicalSwells SurfCamp will accommodate 15 registrants. The package costs PhP 12,000.00 per participant, and this includes six surf sessions (with the use of surf boards, rashguards and other surf equipment required for each surf session), transportation, accommodation and food. For those who would like to try out surfing first, we recommend joining TropicalSwells’ IntroSurf. It’s a day-trip on April 24, 2016 that costs only PhP 3,000.00 per person. The IntroSurf package includes 1 surf session (with the use of surf boards, rashguards and other surf equipment required for each surf session), transportation, resort entrance and use of specified resort facilities.
