a noob’s guide to installing wordpress in a subdomain

I am not actually what you might call an expert on this + if truth be told, I have actually tried installing WordPress twice, once when I created my travel blog + another when I created my food blog {which is actually sleeping dormant right now, waiting for when I’d muster enough guts to blog about food}, which are both sub-domains. My travel blog is up + about, so I guess I did the right thing

If we want to have at least a basic know-how on how to build a website, we should at least know how to install WordPress on our blogs, right? Here are the steps I took when I installed WordPress on my sub-domains:

Log in to your cPanel + create that sub-domain if you haven’t already. For example, you have created the subdomain myblog.website.com. Just click on the Subdomain option.
Go to Fantastico {the smiley button} + click on WordPress from the list of Available Packages under Blog Section
Click on the New Installation tab
In the Install WordPress tab, choose from the list of subdomains where you would like to install WordPress, in this case to myblog.website.com
Fill in the required information based from the prompts to complete your WordPress installation
Make sure you fill in the correct information + don’t forget to take note of your admin access data, which you will use later on to access your new blog.
You can now view your brand spankin’ WordPress blog by typing myblog.website.com on your address bar

The steps might have been altered one way or another since the last time I installed WordPress on my blog, but I am sure you will find loads of other tutorials you can use to brush up on the knowledge. Good luck on those WordPress installation + happy blogging

This is the first time I’ll be joining this meme/giveaway + for this week’s task, we are to write about anything that has blogger in it + here is my take:

I am currently in the process of migrating my son’s Blogger blog to WordPress. It was no easy task, I tell you since I have zero knowledge about it. I have been trying since the time I received my new domain (which is a prize I got from winning sis Ria‘s giveaway!) + until now I only managed to migrate most of the posts (much thanks to this wonderful plug-in), I said most since I found out that some of the posts were not properly transferred + now I am facing a wall + I do not know how to resolve it! I am torn between trying again for the nth time or succumbing to the easiest route which is to shed some paypal funds so I can let someone else work on my pending blog transfer. I must say, I am very close to shelling out the sum to save me all the trouble + the sleepless nights. I can’t wait to update my son’s blog again, see!

Being a blogger feels like going to College all over again, don’t you agree? + it was just unfortunate that I haven’t got all the time in the world to learn, discover + unlearn everything that I have too. But I am enjoying the journey so far, maybe, there are just some things that is not meant for me to do, e.g. migrating my son’s blog, so therefore, I am decided, I am getting someone’s help to do it for me. Wish me luck, then, will you?

off to a good start

This blog officially goes live last Monday via an entry to the newest blog meme in blogosphere, when sahmone speaks by Mommy Mitch, which proved to be rewarding as I also won my first giveaway (for this blog) of $5!Yay! Thanks much Mommy Mitch for you generosity!

And I guess we are really off to a good start since my application for Google Adsense (for both my blogs!) was just approved! That’s another yay!

Worthy of mention, too, are my lovely blog followers… thanks so much guys and expect me to follow back soon (if I wasn’t following yet, that is!)…

Although things here are just starting to take shape and I have a gazillion of stuff to do including:

learning this alien thing called WordPress
studying this self-hosted jargons
installing several widgets
creating pages + menus
creating a new facebook fanpage (and adding a widget here to go with that) for mumwrites
sorting through ideas to write for my entries
creating a badge (hopefully someone will be kind enough to help me *wink*)
finding a suitable template

In the meantime, I hope you guys visit back + leave your comments + feed backs…

hello mummies, pardon the bareness of my blog…i am still having second thoughts about transferring to wordpress. i’d love to hear your thoughts…i am really quite torn…blogger?wordpress?wordpress?blogger?
