the little man with his 50 KidZos

If you read my previous KidZania Manila post, I am sure you know exactly how excited I am to go there again, with the little man this time. We planned to visit on Jared’s birthday but I had second thoughts about reserving our tickets online as they cannot be refunded should we cancel in case of bad weather and since tickets sell like hot cakes, the Kidzania Manila management is discouraging walk-ins especially during weekends. In the end, I had to bring the little one to a play place that have also just opened here in our city and promised to bring him to Kidzania some other time. Meanwhile, he carefully scrutinized the map and planned on the activities he would do once he got there.

I guess the stars must’ve aligned for the little one to visit KidZania sooner as it was one of the places in their school field trip itinerary. It was Jared’s very first school field trip and this mums is way too excited, I woke up at 3am to prepare.

KidZania Manila is the first place to visit in the afternoon after we have taken our lunch at Rizal Park. Good thing traffic was not so bad at the time and we were in The Fort just a little after the scheduled time of arrival. It took a bit longer for us to get in but it was well worth the wait.

mum’s RFID {Radio Frequency Identification} security bracelets

We went and checked in at the airport to have our RFID {Radio Frequency Identification} security bracelets. Before entering the premises, the kids were also issued with 50 KidZos each.

As usual, the place is packed with children raring to give each activity a go. It was a good thing that there was a very short queue when we lined up for the Aviation Academy. As I have previously known, mums and dads will not be allowed to accompany the children inside the activity areas, and while our little man trained to be a pilot, we excitedly waited for him outside, hoping to get some decent photos while he enjoys his first KidZania activity.

Learning Made Fun + Interactive At Museo Pambata

Visiting museums is one of the things that I absolutely enjoy doing with the little man. Not only that there is so much to be learned from each nook and cranny, but there are also lots of new and interesting stuff to see for the little one’s entertainment and amazement. This is the reason why I readily said yes when we were invited to join the Museo Pambata Blogger’s Day held not too long ago. I have been meaning to bring my little trooper there but we did not get the opportunity to do so.

Of course, Jared was way too excited to explore that he was off as soon as we were done with registration.

Jared vs. the telephone

The first exhibit he checked out was Kalikasan as it was the nearest to the entrance. After a bit of exploring the nearby exhibits, guests were requested to gather at the Old Manila exhibit for a short program. The people from Museo Pambata prepared story telling activities for the kiddos, as well as riveting song and dance number. My little explorer was not too keen on the program as he cannot wait to explore the rest of the museum. He was also very smitten with an old telephone he found in the room.

After the short program, everyone was treated to a Filipino-style snack. The buffet table was teeming with well-loved Filipino specialties, including pancit bihon and pandesal. To end our lovely meal, we were all enjoyed Carmen’s Best soft served ice cream.

Am I Raising A Future Animator?

education, mum's thoughts, Philippines Today, jared's nook, Jared
my little one hard at work on his Transformers coloring book

I was contemplating on my chores last night when this question popped into my head. With the way Jared finished working this coloring book I got him from one of my trips to the market, and the way he is consuming his sketch pads enthusiastically re-creating his favorite scenes from the latest animation he was enamored at the moment, drawing his 5-year old rendition of his favorite animations, it is not too far fetched that he might consider becoming an animator in the future. I think it will be a dream come true for him to work for one of his favorite animation companies like Disney or Marvel. I am sure he will have the time of his life working with the same company that brought us his favorite superheroes like the Avengers, Big Hero 6, and his all-time favorite, Lightning McQueen. I will be sure to supply him with enough drawing materials to fuel his passion and enthusiasm.

Animation a booming BPO industry in the country

I did a bit of reading about Animation in the Philippines and chanced upon this interesting article on PhilStar.com. I found out that it is indeed a big BPO industry in the country and I am not surprised. The Filipino talent, creativity, and ingenuity is outstanding and can very well compete with creative artists from around the world. {Grand Champion nga sa Asia’s Got Talent ang El Gamma Penumbra, right?  😉 } According to the article, penned by Mary Ann Ll. Reyes, in 2011 alone, the local animation industry already generated about Php5.3 Billion income, with local animators working for distinguished animation outfits like Marvel, Disney, and Cartoon Network. And based on the growing popularity of animation these days, I am sure that figure will only go higher in the coming years.  It is, therefore, safe to assume, that a post in Animation might just be a great career choice.
