jared turns 35 months!

Jared, Jared's nook, milestones, mum's thoughts

Today my little man turns another month older + exactly a month from now we shall be celebrating his 3rd birthday! Woot! We’re planning to have a simple celebration + earlier this month I have scouted for possible places where we can celebrate.  Anyway, more of that in a separate post.

Now that Jared is 35 months old I’ve noticed a lot of improvement in his vocabulary.  He can now easily repeat words that he hears. Although he still struggles with pronouncing words properly, he can now clearly express what he means, albeit in broken sentences.

He’s also given his potty trainer a go + were able to successfully poop in it on three occasions, much to mum’s delight. Apart from those milestones, the little man’s appetite for solid food has also improved a lot + although I try to feed him more veggies + other healthier food varieties, he’d readily request for one of his favorites ~ hotdogs, chicken, chicken nuggets or soup. I try to give in to his request just to get him eating his solids. Later on, I’d slowly re-introduce greens to get him into a healthy eating habit this early.

Jared  also recently shown particular interest in the learning materials that I prepared for him. Gradually, I an introducing coloring sheets + other interesting + educational activities so that he can learn all about shapes, colors, numbers + letters. I also give him fun stuff to play with which can also help improve his other skills like his motor abilities + hand-eye coordination. I will share more of that in future posts as well.

Apart from learning all about that, I am also delighted to note that the little man is now learning a little bit about good manners each day. He’d be quick to say sorry or excuse {sans the “x,” though} whenever needed + would readily return niceties when greeted with a “good morning” or a “good  night.” We just need to work some more on his temper, though, but I guess it will also improve as he grows older.

Looking back , I wonder where all the time went between now + the time I was just carrying him in my big tummy. 3 years ago, I remember watching the coverage of the late President Cory Aquino’s demise + memorial, with Jared kicking inside my tummy, ready to come out in a few weeks’s time, in my then workplace’s pantry during break time. I cannot believe that it has been three years since then! I cannot believe how Jared grew up this big in what seemed like a short span of time. It sure is never easy, bringing up a child into this world + raising him to be happy + unique individual, but I am loving every minute of it!  :heart:

memories to last a lifetime

motherhood, milestones, Jared, Jared's nook, parenting 101
the little man’s first studio photo…

Apart from savoring every little first, every little milestone + every little achievement of our little ones, we’d also like to keep something tangible that would remind us of that very special moment: a ticket to his first carousel ride, a certificate of his first haircut, a petal or two of the first flower he’s ever picked for mum, they will never fail to bring us back to that very moment + bring a smile or a tear or two on our faces. Something that makes for such perfect memento are the photos we took, either taken haphazardly or with expert hands, to capture that first smile, that first step, or that first toothy grin. I must admit being a paparazzi indeed comes with the territory as you chronicle each of your little one’s day-by-day activities + developments, + ultimately, his life!

Photographs has that endearing mass appeal not only to mums with tots but also for every person, in general, I guess. It is probably the reason why in the advent of modern-day technology + gadgets, photography, along with photograph printing, will simply never go out-of-style. I think it is the same fire that fuel mum’s passion to see her child’s life unfold in pictures that also fuels a couple’s desire to hire the best utah wedding photographer to capture their very special day of union in moving + heart-warming photographs.

Photographs, after all, are memories that are made to last a lifetime, something I can show my son’s children in the future, if I will ever live long enough to meet them all!

what to stock up on your medicine cabinet

motherhood, home, tips + tricks

I did mention I shall be back with a post on what to stash on your medicine cabinet, especially in preparation for the rainy season, when flu + various other sickness abounds. You do not really need to buy a new box or container for your medicine supplies, you may use an old shoe box or re-purpose something which you already have in the house. For my medicine box, I have re-purposed a box that previously contained my digicam, my iPod + other gadgets.

Here are a few of the stuffs I have on my own medicine box which I thought you should have in yours, too:

  • a thermometer {a must, especially when you have little ones at home}
  • nasal drops {I’ve had them since Jared was a baby}
  • a hot + cold compress. If you can get an item that does both, all the better, saves you from buying another item altogether
  • gauze pads {along with an adhesive for it} + adhesive strips
  • petroleum jelly
  • povidine-iodine topical antiseptics {you never know when you might need one}
  • Vicks Vaporub {although I don’t get to use it often + would just put it on my little man’s sole whenever he’s nose is clogged}
  • insect repellent, especially now that the rainy days + dengue abound, you need to protect your little ones from those nasty insect bites! I swear by Human Heart Nature’s Bug Shield {which I shall be making a review about soon!}
  • a stash of assorted pills for various common ailments like stomachache, fever, diarrhea, or colds!

I have Jared’s vitamins, cough syrups + other medicine on the fridge, as they need to be refrigerated as mentioned on their labels. I also have my son’s nebulizer stashed somewhere safe. If you have little ones I suggest you also invest on one of these.

You can personalize your medicine box, depending on your specific needs + requirements. It is just important to have most of the basics covered, like keeping pills for stomachache, fever, + do not forget your vitamins, too!

Anything else I forgot to stash on my medicine box? Let me know through a comment below, right? 😉
