nice to know you wednesday meme 04

NTKYW, meme

I do apologize that I am posting my questions a day late this week. This mum has been busy with offline duties that I was not able to schedule a post for this week’s NTKYW edition.

Anyway, on with our 5 questions for the week + since it is my birthday week, I have some birthday queries here that I’d love for you to answer:

  1. How do you usually celebrate your birthday?
  2. This year, what are you planning to do to make your birthday celebration different?
  3. What was the best birthday gift you received ever?
  4. What is your dream birthday celebration {you can elaborate if you wish ;)}?
  5. What are your birthday wishes for this year?
My answers:
  1. I would just normally eat out with Jared’s dad {when Jared’s not yet around} or file vacation from work so I can do whatever I fancy on my big day {which normally includes loads of dosing off, or strolling at the mall or practically doing nothing :)}
  2. I actually wanted to spend a bit of alone-time on my birthday to make it different since I scarcely get any now that I am a mum, I remember spending my last birthday doing some last minute errands for my son’s own birthday celebration {it was a good thing I managed to squeeze in having a pedicure + a much-needed haircut afterwards :)} but I guess more than anything, the most ideal will be to spend it with my little one, maybe we’d eat out + stroll a bit in the mall, which is what I am planning to do this year šŸ™‚
  3. I guess I’ve answered this before, but my answer won’t change my Jared is the best birthday gift I’ve ever had!
  4. A dream birthday celebration will be to be frolicking in the white sands of Boracay {or any beach, for that matter}, barefoot + clad in my swimsuit {which I hope I’ll fit into again or I might just have to buy a new one in a bigger size :(} lazily lounging in the shore sipping a glass of green mango shake + building sandcastles with my little tot {who is clad in his cute swimming trunks :)}.I wish I can afford to do that one day.
  5. For this year {like most years} I wish for good health for myself, my son, his dad + my entire family. I wish for HIS guidance so I can be the best mum that I can ever be. I wish that I’d have the best birthday ever this year. I also wish that I can find more ways to earn my keep online šŸ˜‰
Now it is your turn to answer these birthday questions, I look forward to reading them šŸ˜‰
Nice To Know You Wednesday is a weekly online q+a where we get to know each participants a little better through their answers + insights.Ā Grab the badges hereĀ + don’t forget to include your urls in the linky below. Visiting all the participants {which I only have quite a few, for now} is also highly recommended. Leave your comment love so they’ll visit you back šŸ˜‰
That’s it for now, Jared + I need to be somewhere this afternoon so I pray that it won’t rain. If I get lucky I’ll be able to write more posts later tonight + finish some projects I have on the side.
Have a great Thursday everybody + stay safe šŸ˜‰

sm masterchefs cooking marathon 2011 eton leg

SM Masterchefs, Cooking Marathon 2011, travel

I have always admired chefs + watched tons of cooking shows on the tellie dreaming I was cooking the same delicious + mouth-watering recipes in my own fully-equipped kitchen. That is why I was excited when I got an invite from Mr. NomNom himself, Jonel, to join him in the Eton-Centris leg of SM Hypermarket’s’ SM Masterchefs Cooking Marathon 2011 a few weeks back. Ā It was also my first time to travel to Eton-Centris so I was looking forward to the idea with anticipation.

Chef Menoy doing what he does best
Sharing some tricks of the trade
showing us how to prepare everything in the tortilla wrap

For that day’s cooking demo, it was Chef Menoy Gimenez‘s turn to showcase his cooking prowess + boy what a brilliant chef he is! He actually made everything looked very easy that I was looking forward to making my own version of it in the future (when I’ve mustered enough guts, that is! :))

Here’s the recipe of what Chef Menoy cooked for us that day:

ain't that delish? šŸ™‚

Ulam Burger Fajitas

What you’ll need:

  • 2 pcs of Ā Tortilla wrap
  • 1 pc of Ulam burger, panfried + cut into strips
  • 100 g of cheddar cheese, grated
  • 100 g of tomato salsa
  • 50 g of of Iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 50 ml of garlic mayonnaise
What you’ll do:
  • in a large Teflon pan, heat up tortilla wrap until soft
  • assemble the rest of the ingredients in the center of the tortilla wrap
  • fold the tortilla wrap lumpia-style and heat again until the wrap turns a bit brown
  • cut into half + serve with nachos on the side
Tocino Chow Fan
What you’ll need:
  • 30 ml of peanut oil
  • 50 g of leeks (just the white part), chopped
  • 30 g of garlic, minced
  • 200 g of young pork tocino, blanched + stir-fried
  • 100 g of frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2 cups of cooked rice
  • 50 ml of oyster sauce
  • 20 g of chicken powder
  • 2 pcs of eggs
  • 50 g of leeks (the green part, this time), chopped
What you’ll do:
  • heat peanut oil in a wok
  • saute leeks + garlic
  • add in tocino + mixed vegetables
  • stir fry for about 2 minutes
  • add in the rice + mix until thoroughly combined
  • season with chicken powder and oyster sauce
  • beat eggs + pour into the rice mixture together with the leeks
  • heat through + serve hot
The dishes both tasted great + to think that every material used are those that are readily found in our pantries! Mouth-watering! šŸ˜‰

Fellow PMC mummies, Divine + Jemimah, are present in the cooking demo, too.
If you want to catch Chef Menoy + the other Masterchefs at an SM Mall nearest you, check out the Cooking Marathon 2011 schedules here.
Thanks NomNom for inviting me to this gastronomical event. “Til next time šŸ™‚

postcard perfect: cape cod, massachusetts

Ā My Postcard Perfect share for this week is this lovely island of Cape Cod (which is locally known as The Cape), which is the easternmost portion of the state of Massachusetts.

According to Wikipedia:

Cape Cod was formed as theĀ terminal moraineĀ of a glacier, resulting in aĀ peninsulaĀ in theĀ Atlantic Ocean. In 1914, theĀ Cape Cod CanalĀ was cut through the baseĀ of the peninsula, forming what may be loosely described as an island. TheĀ Cape Cod CommissionĀ refers to the resultant landmass as an island.

Cape Cod is also often mentioned in Nicholas Spark’s novels.

This beautiful postcard is sent to me by Stephanie through a personal swap. By the way, if you want to swap with me, please leave your details + preference through my contact form. I’d be delighted to swap with you. šŸ™‚Ā
