Reading More Books in 2013

books, reading, simple pleasures, me-time, Blog Photo Challenge

Yep, that is one of my goals for the New Year, too, to build up my virtual bookshelves/library and go back to my first love ~ reading. Last year I was able to read more books and complete my Shopaholic Series collection. Even when I was busy looking after the little man and keeping the house organized, not to mention doing all these activities online, I was able to squeeze in finishing a number of paperbacks during my downtime. This year I plan to read more books in my stash that has been lying dusty for ages now, including classic novels, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

something beginning with “t” ~ Tolstoy 😉

I have also started stocking up on books late last year by buying them as gifts to myself {it was one of my simple pleasures in life! ^_^}. I chanced upon these hardbound copies of The Witch of Portobello by Paolo Coelho and Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella on this e-bay shop and I just can’t resist. The books are sold at only P200 each! Oh and I also got a copy of J.D. Salinger’s The Cather in the Rye the last time I went to the bookstore. And my sister, Bel, gifted me with this millennium edition of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina last Christmas! ^_^

Am all set for the first quarter of this year with plans to finish all these books on my stash. What have you been reading lately?

My 8th share for Blog Photo Challenge and #fmsphotoaday.

Sharing the whites here, too:

Untimed by Andy Gavin is Finally Out!

books, reading

Author Andy Gavin’s new release, Untimed,  is finally out! Get ready for a Young Adult time travel adventure that will have the hours flying by without you noticing it!

Untimed in a nutshell:

Charlie falls through holes in time,  no one remembers his name, not even his own mother, and a clockwork man is trying to kill him. If they do not let Ben Franklin get killed, there is an Eighteenth Century Scottish girl who can bring him back home.

As if that weren’t enough, when a mysterious clockwork man tries to kill him in modern day Philadelphia, and they tumble through a hole into 1725 London, Charlie realizes even the laws of time don’t take him seriously.

Still, this isn’t all bad. In fact, there’s this girl, another time traveler, who not only remembers his name, but might even like him! Unfortunately, Yvaine carries more than her share of baggage: like a baby boy and at least two ex-boyfriends! One’s famous, the other’s murderous, and Charlie doesn’t know who is the bigger problem.
When one kills the other — and the other is nineteen year-old Ben Franklin — things get really crazy. Can their relationship survive? Can the future? Charlie and Yvaine are time travelers, they can fix this — theoretically — but the rules are complicated and the stakes are history as we know it.
And there’s one more wrinkle: he can only travel into the past, and she can only travel into the future!

His books are a collection of his “Pogi from a Parallel Universe” columns in the Philippine Star.

Join RJ Ledesma as he signs all four of his books on Friday (September 14) from 5:00pm-6:00pm at the National Book Store booth of the 33rd Manila International Book Fair in SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
